We survived and the casino lights never even flickered.

Reno now has one of the best dispensaries, well the only place I’ll buy weed from for myself. It’s really great. The dispensary. One in Vegas too. Killer herb, super knowledgeable, and really clean herb if you know what you are looking for.

The highest low. I love to say those two words out loud. I hate that the highest low keeps getting warmer.

magic was saying they haven’t been under freezing in 8 days. january thaw came early or winter never arrived? tough to tell these days.

    .

magic is a full blown joke. There. I said it. Don’t gauge the northeast on that shit hole with an inept mountain owner. Stratton has been spinning lifts since thanksgiving same with bromley, killington, okemo, Stowe, sugarbush, and just about every other mtn in the north east. Magic sucks and I would hate to have given them money for services promised.

hate as you wish but every other mountain there has a large corporate parent (including the inept vail resorts), and except for stowe and the bush, can't compete with magic for challenging terrain (full disclosure: never ever opted to ski okemo or stratton based on respected opinions of friends - and their nicknames!)
the weather is fucked and i'm glad lifts are spinning at all.
plattekill got torched as well and is the best-run small (and family owned) mountain i know. mad river glen got hit hard as well.
magic's management issues and the weather are 2 separate things.
skiing without natural snow is only made possible by great expenditures of energy - and the emissions at the heart of the weather we experience today. (and by $150+ lift tickets). much like running the a/c in the car to stay cool in a parking lot on a hot day.

how are the woods and nats holding up at the corporate resorts?

Monkeys flinging poop at each other.
There was good skiing in December. Never forget.
I have been running in shorts all week on the Cape.
One more weekend at Cannon and I'm headed to Bachelor.

there are over grown woods that are steep all over Vt. I’d rather walk then get stuck on a lift at magic. Their terrain is the same as everyone else’s if you know where to look. I’m 36 and have spent every year of my life in that valley.

and I guess $800 season passes to spin three days so far is worth it too?

there could of been great skiing in January too if every resort didn’t sit on their hands and pray for more natural. There isnt a resort in the north east that didn’t mess rhat window up. I would of made snow like crazy for the two weeks after that storm. Instead, oh let’s sit and hope. Bunch on idiots run the ski industry for nothing more then profit and it’s sad. And magic is right there with the best of them.

what window are you talking about? everyone was making snow whenever they could as far as i could tell. 30 degrees and high humidity doesn’t really put down a lot (or good quality) fake. hey, maybe i should stop bickering and just thank the lucky stars for the 3” of zipper crust we just got, another month of this shit and i’ll be calling it powder!

i almost got stuck on the red chair that x-mas week pow day about 10years back but for running 15 mins late. no argument there. and agreed, the pass would have been a bad investment thus far. i believe i was there day 4 and they still ran after that (i think) i stopped buying passes a few years ago except for springs at K.

^^ a lot of those same mtns may close early if there's no snowpack and move on to their summer offerings. for profit.

what planet are you on? Obviously not one in southern Vt. Just about every mountain sat on that storm and didn’t turn on a single snow gun. Including magic, they could of figured out their pump problems a few days earlier. And after that storm if dropped to mid teens with no humidity for six days. Take a lap.

Stratton and okemo will spin until 4/15 just like usual unless there is no snow. And we all know what killington will do. I’ll gladly get my 50 days at Stratton and thank alterra for it every step of the way. I guess I’ll thank palisades, steamboat and Jackson as well.

I’m on the sugarloaf snow meeting just about every day, we made a huge investment in our system this off season and make snow when we can. We haven’t been able to lately

owls head put in 3M to make more (on pumps and high e guns)and they have been closed because it’s been so warm. i got my pass at the mini vernon valley up here that blows tons of snow and skied there 2 days of the storm and lots before - no guns going. virtually every night ski i’ve had it’s been basically 30 degrees. that there is some conspiracy and that if only some jong was running the show all the east coast mountains would be at 100% (except Magic) makes no sense.

warmest december ever and january has been even worse.

It doesn’t snow like it used to so you need a big snow hose system, now you have the big hose and can’t use it also due to weather.

    How fucked is that?

fwiw 07/08 didn't really hit til mlk and turned out to be a season of many bottomless days. but that was 14 years and many disappointing winters ago.
