no links, no whispering... old chat was better.

no private conversations, just not good.
rather remove it than use that one.

Aside from the general fruity look and lack of features, I've noticed that if I don't stick the www in from of the adress, I get that application not licensed error. With the www the register link goes away and I can get in fine.

But I still don't like it.

since vbulletin runs php, you should be able to find a decent chat script on sourceforge in php

just search "php chat" on there and see if you can find anything like the old version.

    i'll look later.

    Like my Tandy?

    Really though...
SQL/.Net's a significantly more robust platform for creating extensible applications that share information. We use a vb.net managed code base for most of our applications due to their rapid deployment, stable architecture and web centric application objects.

Additionally most .net applications are designed to work with W2k3 It's ability to cache objects in the application layer and finely control the http/xml output to the page makes it a much more appropriate platform for a chat system.

Granted, php is a lighter application, but this new server is tuned for .net.

Out long range plan is to significantly trick out the rest of the site- you'll see significant growth under the new platform.

We are not considering migrating away from php for the forums, as they work.

The old chat script was a cpu hog and does not make use of a lot of the optimization available in modern servers. Not only that it doesn't work on windows.

    Tandy 2000 all the way.

You can actually chat? Sadly, I cannot.

edit - I'm dumb and chat really sucks. CHANGE COLOR TO BLACK! For the people who happen to chat at work, blue is too obvious of a color, it will attract attention.
