    20-30cm expected above 1500m

here's environment canada's heavy rainfall warning:

Heavy rain over southern Alberta today and tonight ending Sunday. Snow over the Mountain Parks.

An upper low over southern British Columbia will slowly track eastwards over extreme southern Alberta today. As of 7 AM, total rainfall amounts were 30 to 60 mm along the foothills with Nordegg reporting the most at 54.6 mm. This weather system will produce another 20 to 30 mm of rain over southern Alberta today and a further 30 to 40 mm tonight. The rain will gradually end Sunday morning. The low pressure system has taken a more southerly track consequently the warning area has been expanded to include the City of Calgary and the remaining regions of southern Alberta.

In addition, locations above 1500 metres could see significant snowfalls. Limestone ridge, west of Sundre reported 12 cm of snow. Significant snowfalls have also occurred over the sunshine village area. A further 20 to 30 cm of snow is expected to accumulate above 1500 metres by Sunday morning. The rain is expected to change to snow over the Jasper and Banff town sites tonight. Accumulations of 5 to 10 cm is expected between 1300 and 1500 metres by Sunday morning.

wifey got enough snow last weekend at jasper -- when i woke her up this morning to hike borgeau lake (just a ridge away from sunshine) she saw the camera snapshots and said 'too cold'

if this keeps coming we may have a fantastic winter ahead of us.
