    Pocket Rocket size??

I am getting a new pair of pocket rockets but Im not sure on the size I want because of some things I have heard. I am 5'8"-5'9" and I weigh about 145 lbs. I wasn't sure if I should get the 165's or 175's because I heard that fatter skis are faster than skinny ones. I have never skied on a fat ski so I have no clue which one i should get. Any help would be much appriciated . Thx

If you survive this thread, I'd suggest 175.

I would go with shomehting other than a pocket rocket if you have a choice, such as a seth vicous, head 90 mojo, dynastar big trouble, or something along those lines instead i would go with the longer size 165 is to short.
If ski companies didn't make new skis every year I wouldn't have to get new skis every year.

Are you going to jib on them at all? Because longer skis are better for jibbing, they make you get more air.

    ya

Ive only skied on 3 different pairs of skies....my first few years I skied on some salomans that were 185's then i got some dynastar skicross 9's that were 170's last year....ended up not liking those (too skinny, too short, just didnt feel right) . So im going back to the oldies this year but I want some skies to just dick around on. But I also dont want to get them too small because if they are too small in 2 years im gunna be pissed (Im only 18 and i still have some growing left ). I do everything on the mountain..kickers...rails...pow...groomers...and so on.

I'm 5'9", 160 and have 175's. Just right. I had them remounted 2cm back for better float in powder. I don't do the flippy-spinny thing. At least not on purpose.

The Pocket Rockets ski very short. They are very soft, very light, twin tips. I'm 5'10', 178#. I first demoed them in a 175. They were way too short for me. I later bought a pair in a 185. Even the 185s felt too short to me.
At your height and weight, you should have no problem with a 175. What bindings are you looking at for your blue noodles?
If you aren't in a hurry, you might want to wait until the 178cm soft Bro Models come out.

Yeah, goddamn tech talk fucking fucktards.

Anyway, the real deal (for "insiders") is to search until you find the 181cm Japanese Special Issue Pocket Rocket. The Graphics are pink, and it does look like a chick ski, but they're what the pros actually use. They cut a mean turn man!! I'm here to tell you, Japanese special issues are where its at.

I agree with the 2cm back for not only better float in powder, but also to quiet down the soft tip by being able to ski more forward and agressively in other conditions. I used demo bindings on my blue noodles to achieve this effect.

With most Salomon bindings make sure that they are adjusted properly (forward pressure, toe height and toe width) and rechecked regularly unless you are into premature ejaculation from your skis. (I know from experience )
What length skis did you decide on?

Well my uncle picked up some 165's over labor day weekend because some salomon rep said that I would be crazy to ski on the 175's which was what I originaly wanted. So I called him last night and told him to exchange them for the 175's, and he seemed kinda pissed but o well.

Thx for all the replies guys...I really appreciate it!!!

I love this, those reps really know what they are talking about.

I'd definitely swap them for the 175 if you can.
I'm 5'7, 140 and I found the 165 skiied too short for me.
They are a very soft ski but I did have a lot of fun on them.
