help me design a logo

I've decided to go ahead with my harebrained plan to become an independent travel agent specializing in ski travel (original thread ). The company will be named Downhill Destinations. I will provide highly customized ski vacations for everyone from the brand new gaper, to the highly experienced extremeo dude. This will be a part-time home business with plans to expand into a larger company over the next 3 or 4 years.

I've started work on a website, but I'm really bad with graphical design. I threw together some basic logos, and was looking for comments. Here's are some basic ideas that I threw together:





This one was done by a friend. I love the way it incorporates ski tracks, but it does have the unfortunate effect of making the D's look like a pair of breasts.







I like this one, but it almost makes the company look too expensive.






Here I was just playing with the double d element of the name. I like these, but they don't really evoke a feeleing of winter (also I didn't do a great job reflecting on the logo with the capital Ds).


Another one that makes the company look like it was designed for rich people (I was inspired by the Beaver Creek logo)


I like this one a lot (mainly because it has color)

I would be careful of using DD. DD means "Double Dildos." But maybe that's just me.

And I think I like the first design best.

seriously it's by far the best. maybe you could try to develope the "ownhill" and "estination" out of a line too, as if you were trying to say, the whole spirit of downhill destinations is based on and developed from the central idea of drawing bigturns in virgin snow..

yeah it sounds cheesy, but it's not. your first concept is really unique and stands for what your business is all about. you see it once, it catches your attention (because you start thinking about it) and you won't forget it. all the other graphics could just stand for anything from slippers to toiletpaper or a law firm.

thinking about it twice, maybe my first idea might actually be a little cheesy. but maybe you could find another fond, that doesnt contrast es much with the lines (maybe italics would help already). but with this harsh contrast it seems as if your business doesn't really have one corparate idea - which is in fact drawing lines like those Ds.

do the ski tracks one but line the D's up vertically and add a set of straitline tracks on the far left to form the back of the D
