I'm pretty sure my wife buys the Japanese version based on where she gets it from, but can't confirm because there's no label on the bottle.
I would check out Vosen's for anything rye. They are not always consistent, we have bought a loaf that was already stale. The kid behind the counter will usually throw in a danish/something sweet if you exude chill brah vibes.
I can turn in my horn rims and fixie but I bet your local harmons makes a fine marbled rye.
Ghosthop, I haven't seen Harmons with a marbled rye yet. I'll check out Vosens at some point when I'm finally near it, thanks.
Got a fresh baguette from Harmons today and made a honey ham, sharp cheddar, ocean spray cranberry jelly, arugula sandwich. Also slathered some Duke's mayo with mustard, thyme, dill and salt. Pretty tasty. Again, 'recipe' from Turkey and the Wolf.
Yesterday I went to Chinatown in L.A. and got a few nice Banh Mi from a place with no online ordering or menu (a pic of the menu is all I could find), cash only, in the back of a tiny market that was called My Dung, ha. They were on LA Eater as one of the best authentic Banh Mi around so I braved rush hour traffic to make it happen. Place closes at 6pm weirdly, as did many authentic LA Banh Mi places.
There's two people behind this counter when I took this pic, they were very petite. They gave me a step stool to sit on while I waited.
Good shit.
One of the best banh mi sandwiches I ever had was from a similar type shop in Calgary. A few hours later I was shitting my brains out as the sunset at Nose Hill park, surrounded by curious coyotes.

This is high on the list. Fermented buckwheat waffle, dijon, bacon, cheese, egg, s&p, green dragon sauce.

Wish I took a pic. I just inhaled a Philly Chesse Steak made with elk steak. Seriously good.

Vibes for your buckwheat allergy as that stuff is truly tasty.
