    Goode Carbon 95 question

What’s the deal with Goode Carbon 95. They show up in searches here only in regards to touring. Are they only touring specific? Is the construction not bomber enough for some hammering on EC inbounds and woods.
I’m trying to narrow my search for a new ski by using "the lightest ski out there guideline". I’d buy a Bro model without hesitation if it were in a 191-193cm. I can’t wait, this season anyway, for Stephan and Cyrille to get straightened out (but sincerely hope something good comes from that).
Anyone skiing the Goodes Carbon 95s for anything but touring and off piste?
I know Stephan is still working with Goode but the C95s are out there now, so I'm interested.

Having never skied them myself... the Goodes have a reputation for being thrown around in snow that is anything other than powder. If weight is the absolute most important factor... then go for it. Personally, I would look for a ski that handles a variety of conditions better.

    very very fragile.
2 skis broken when our shop was testing them- and not while getting rad: both were broken while turning at moderate speeds. I was able to break one of unbroken skis in the repair shop by flexing it the standard way (upright on the floor).
In all cases the ski broke right in front of the toepiece.
They skied good though, for such light skis. They'll be cool when they figure out how to make them stronger.

too light to deal with the change in conditions, fine for powder, or just windslab, or just bumps, but the swing wieght is soooo light that you overturn them.

for str* lines get a big heivy ski that wont be deflected by snow changes, you dont see guys riding DH fast on light XC bikes

188 bros even in my super soft are as stable as 195 iggys in #240 flex.

I think splat has some pairs left over

One pair - that were returned for some non-existent base bubbles, but it looks like there's a line forming for them in Gear Swap.

As for length - I'm 6-2, 200 lbs and a rapidly advancing wedge skier. The Bros seemed short at first (shit, I used to ski 215's, then 210's, then 208's , 207's, and 198's before the Bros)
but they are the most stable muthafucka's I've ever skied at speed and in variables. Maybe I'm just biased, but everyone on them agrees with that statement. We're taking preorders for the next two weeks at $550, then they go up to $599. I get the first pair of this year's batch next week. We'll be shipping in October

I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say, Splat, your’re full of shit…..I believe you're an advancing wedge skier but from the photos I’ve seen here, you ain’t no 6’2" 200 lbs.
I’ve read the good things about your ski. When are you going longer?

Highway star, to answer your question…. tight trees …my 191cm R:EXs were easy to whip around when needed. They also offered stability. They’re also stiff. They’re also toast. These led me to seek out the DB surreal, which I demoed at stowe… I’d own them now if the company survived.

mtnlion…..ummm…. you’re always there to help, but….how heavy are you?

H wood I really appreciated your input based on experience. Thanks.
    And thanks Figure Eleven.

Well there is the small issue that you could get two pairs of more mainstream skis for the price of a single pair of Goodes. Are the Goodes twice as good as a two ski quiver? Maybe a 190 Exploder or Mantra?

    OK.....Now I have to humble myself.......5'-9", 280 lbs.
We're going shorter first, due to popular demand. If things go well enough this year and we have our manufacturing facility next year, we can dick around all day with new designs. And that would be cool.

Well, I'm 6'4" and 220lbs and think the Bro is long enough. Granted, if I were doing Nobis lines in Alaska, I might wanna go longer, but I think its a sweet length, even for a big guy. I never found myself thinking they were too short, and the shortness is nice for the trees.
I had the Fir Stiff and am upgrading to Aspen Stiff this season - a wee bit stiffer so the tips dont flap as much when I go mach looney on the groomers. I woudl go Super Stiff, but as much as I like stiff skis, it has been really fun having a softer ski that still has awesome edgehold and can ski fast. It is an amazingly versatile board.
They are also refeshingly light, since I usually ski metal topsheets.

That being said, I hope they do expand into a larger 195 for those who feel the need.
It would be a schweet ride indeed.

Yeah. I know. I blew all kinds of cash on skis back when I was young, dumb, and not a homeowner . I actually look at my Tablas every once and a while and wondered if I could sell them for close to what I paid for them.
