i have this years version, and got them like half price which makes any ski feel better. i do ski forward which maybe is key.

This year's re the post above
and no, the price is not justified for me - even if I got them at a steep discount. They have no fancy construction driving the price up, so there is likely a pretty hefty BC branding premium. Good on them I guess, but hard to justify if they do not ski like one would like them to. They do look good though, and would probably be very versatile quiver of one - but require too different a skiing style compared to my other skis to make sense for me.
Nocta v2s on the other hand - instant love![]()
I’m with you. Didn’t like Atris from 3-4 years ago in 182 or 189, dig Corvus 183, and am currently liking 188 Daemon and 185 Nocta V2

I’m out at steamboat right now. The Atris is really a different feel in chalky and dry snow compared to costal snow and east coast crap. Very strange. Super hooky. And aren’t being very playful. My Corvus on the other hand, is the best I’ve ever had in snow like this. Handles chop and packed powder just like at home.
atris would probably be fine if I set up my bench and put the Base bevel up at a 2. But I have my nocta with me so the Atris will just get put away instead.
At least you have your bases covered. Im in Arizona this week heading to Taos next week, then to Baker, back down to Snowbowl, to Vegas for a trade show then to Alta. I just brought my Corvus due to all of the jumping around Im doing vs being holed up somewhere for a week or so. That sucks the Atris isn't playing. I had mine out at Sierra a few weeks ago and they were playing quite nicely.
Its only 13 hours back to Reno from Steamboat. Depends on how much time you have to burn if its going to be worth it. did you drive out there with all of your shit?
Ya. I drove out with my fiancé and buddy, and met my other buddy from Reno and his wife out here. I have four pairs of skis with me and my buddy that came with me has three. Our plan is steamboat til Sunday then Jackson for a few days, then YC for a couple days then home.
probably just worth it to continue the Rockies and get home and then fly to Reno and finish March there.
Since I have to wait to see myself... Would one say the corvus is more or less pivoty than the atris.. 188 corvus vs 189 Atris
Yes, the Corvus is more pivoty due to the slight rocker/flat/low rocker profile. Black Crows got it right with this design. +1
Absolutely love my 183 Daemons, it’s a shame that they discontinued them. Maybe my favorite bump ski ever. It sounds like the Corvus is a wider, more stable version of them, which makes me want some BAD.

Corvus ski more like a traditional ski in breakable crust and mank. Need speed and power and a lot of attention, unlike a Renegade or similar that really just need power and a lot of unweighting. With speed and power and attention, though, they will make some nice arcs that feel pretty good.

I will say the serpo is a shitload of fun for those wanting a skinny ski. The tail holds an edge really well but never leaves you locked in. It’s light enough to throw around but but the metal underfoot lends them to be pretty stable. Tips aren’t overly stiff and are forgiving. Can’t say enough good things about this ski. Would love a 108 version.
I had a 180 serpo and I’m about the same size as you, a little smaller and it skied short and super unstable for me at that length. I’m torn right now between a 186 serpo and a 184 orb, the orb is more like a Corvus, flat, stiffer and pivots. I’m leaning towards a orb harder at my size and is 5mm narrower then the serpo. Plus that powder seven leftover orb price is a sore dick, can’t beat it.
I could definitely see the Atris feeling short at 184. It’s a pretty easy ski at 189 in my opinion.
Also 2 days on the new nocta after detune and 40” at Alta. I can say this ski is a great amount of fun and quite decent on roughed up groomers (no more hook). Never had an issue with tip dive and It’s a lot less tiring than my 192 protest I had before it.
I am wondering what will be the regular 2024 Nocta. Anybody with information on this?
The Nocta Powder Hunting with the new design was presented as a special edition and is sold out already.
But no other Noctas could be seen anywhere in 2024 line ups...
Anybody?
Check page 15
The limited part of the new Nocta is "just" the graphics. It is the 23/24 and onward shape
Is there a new Draco'esque Navis on the way too?
