Seems like I might have to fill out paperwork on the rifle. Maybe. Definitely could shop a little harder and save some money.

Doesn't seem like anything needs addressing...

Yes, it's a "counter assault rifle". It's designed for battle. Very much a niche weapon. Maybe even a solution in search of a problem. The idea appears to be something that is more portable and maneuverable than a sniper rifle for those times you need to take out an asshole with an assault weapon (and armour). It's also expensive. I brought it up because folks were saying that there weren't any hi-cap .30-06 "assault rifles".

Ya there is probably every type of weapon anyone can imagine available for the right price. Simple solution is to ban the high capacity magazines. Maybe allow them to be rented at the range for shits and giggles but possession beyond that comes with a stiff penalty. Same with ammo, limit of 50-100 rounds/shells... whatever is reasonable for hunting when not at the range.

Anyone else OK with loopholes for "well regulated" range use of these things we don't want folks walking around with??

Who said that? And by your very definition it is not an assault rifle.

    Truth.

And I ordered more ammo and mags this week. Building a 6mm ARC on an AR platform. At $3 per round, it certainly isn't a WMD.

Hyperbole. Is it easier for average people (say me or someone else with zero previous connections) to get weed in full weed legal zones than it was before weed was legal there? Asking for a friend..

Goal is to incrementally reduce the total number in circulation out there ir at least slow down the exponential growth.

This classic hunting rifle plus this $80 part is the same functional rifle as that Daniel Defense with different aesthetics and for a lot less ($600 total).

I’m not sure what my point is…probably that I agree with Bobby and Rev. Make center fire semi auto rifles and sidearms NFA items. Give any current owners a year to apply for the enhanced background and pay $200 to keep what they have or offer them a buyback. Make it a felony to own one without the stamp. Anything new needs the stamp. If you don’t know the implications of how NFA stamps work, read up on it.

Sure, the criminals will still have their guns. And the criminals would probably still commit crimes. Regardless.

Revolvers and shotguns make fine home protection guns if you’re the type that feels the need to own a firearm for self defense and those would not fall under the concept above. Meaning, you could still protect your home without the NFA process. Would be tough to LARP cool without the stamp though.

Requiring a stamp does not infringe on anyone’s right to own a firearm. 2A does not address how long it should take to obtain a gun. 2A does not address how much it should cost to buy one. If the NRA does not like the $200 additional cost, they can lobby the gun manufacturers to reduce the cost of the firearm by $200.

Oh-and fuck the NRA. As a gun owner, I’ve never sent a dime to the NRA but I have sent money to Everytown.

100% agree but the 2nd A MAGA crowd only hears and reads "shall not be infringed" Having to wait more than a day = "infringed" to them..

    ^^^ That’s a bolt gun, no?

The standard 7.62x51 M4carbines also have 30 round capacity. Only slightly less energy than 30-06.

I'll 100% own that. I was definitely thinking the overwhelming majority of that caliber was bolt action, not semi auto. Again, for the right price you can find just about anything or have a gunsmith make it. But didn't realize it's something pretty easy to find on short notice.

Anything semi auto AND easily acquirable 10+ round magazines AND High Velocity is a problem..
