respectfully, I will contest the ' 90% have driven intoxicated' claim - I know this is tgr and all, but, yeah - no. I believe you see a skewed view of society in the Emergency Department. hang in ; ski season is coming... skiJ

I’m completely serious. Thirty years in the ER and it’s a huge part of our every day routine. Drunk after drunk. Alcohol related violence, deaths, illness, dysfunction. I’d argue the net negative effects on society probably eclipse gun issues. Nobody gives a fuck.

People like their booze as much or more than their guns. And it’s bipartisan.

My best friend drank herself to death.

Dated a guy who was an alcoholic eye surgeon. He used to take beta blockers to keep his hands steady. Alcohol totally fucked up his life and all he worked for.

A HS friend was drunk at a party and decided he could do a backflip off the railing of the deck. Turns out he couldn't. Now he's a quadriplegic.

Got lots more stories if anyone wants to hear them.

    Alcohol is bad m"kay.....

Lots of surgeon types take beta blockers. I just learned about this but it’s been a thing for a long time. Lots of actors take em too. Who knew. Maybe they’d work on potential shooters and calm them the fuck down as well

Propranolol (beta blocker) would have been beneficial for the would be Trump assassin.

He took them because he was a drunk.

Man, we did ding dong ditch all the time as kids, never got shot. This asshole shot the kid in the back. WTF? He's not going to last long in prison.

They just just give him a handgun and give him the offer to kill himself immediately.
