So Texas passed a law requiring armed guards in all schools. As other pointed out in this thread, trying to do so would be cost prohibitive. Guess what Texas is finding out? Not enough money and not enough people to take the jobs.

Of course it’s Texas so priorities come into play. 1,300 student school and a $35 million stadium complete with luxury boxes. At least the kids that survive elementary school shootings will have a nice place to play sports ball.

Or just tell the students it's OK to bring their guns.

Australia by the numbers tells a different story. The government bought roughly 650k guns from the public, and enacted restrictions of the types of firearms the public could legally own. So if all that accomplished was taking firearms away from law abiding citizens, gun crime would've remained relatively unchanged.

    Attachment 467595

But instead it plummeted. Because as has been said ad nauseam in this thread, everyone is a good guy with a gun until they aren't.

Of course the gun lobby says that gun homicide was trending down anyway, so it was all just a waste of money, but that's inconsistent with the state by state numbers that indicate the states with the highest participation had the greatest reduction.
Could all of you gun nuts please read the quoted post and understand the chart. Please.

What people seem to either not understand or are ignoring is one simple concept.. EVERYBODY gets pissed off and loses their temper sometimes.. The number of people getting shot goes up proportionally to the number of guns everyone has handy. If everyone has a gun handy all the time then odds are higher of of people getting shot when people get pissed off. When hardly anybody has a gun handy hardly anybody gets shot when people get pissed off. It really is that simple..

California store owner, mother of nine, fatally shot over a Pride flag displayed in her shop

Deputies responded at 5 p.m. to the shooting at the Mag Pi clothing store, where owner Laura Ann Carleton was pronounced dead at the scene, the San Bernardino Sheriff's Department said in a news release. The suspect, who was not identified, fled the scene on foot.

“Through further investigation, detectives learned the suspect made several disparaging remarks about a rainbow flag that stood outside the store before shooting Carleton,” the news release said.

The suspect was armed when confronted by deputies and was killed in "a lethal force encounter," the sheriff’s department said. An investigation is ongoing.

^^^And info into who/why seems unavailable.
Mayor made a statement about results getting illegal guns off the streets, but that seems to be it.

Gotta wonder if this was a tit for tat gang thing. But I’m guessing there were some innocent bystanders among the victims. Sucks regardless.

The guy that posted this shot and killed a 66 yo mother of nine because she had a rainbow flag at her shop. I’m trying to think of a good clear reason he should be able to have a gun. Leroy or any of the other ammosexuals here want to stand up for him?

    No shit.

Handgun was not registered in Cali. Even if he went thru standard purchase, I doubt his ranting about queers would have stopped a gun store owner from selling him a firearm.

His family reported him missing the day before. California has a Red Flag law but family didn’t turn him in.

That exact same logic can be applied to firearm suicide……. Everybody gets depressed every once in a while…….. Some get so depressed…. and have access to a firearm…..

It's almost like somewhat preventing access to firearms would save lives!

    https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/wp-cont...pring_2011.pdf

The NFA also seems to have reduced firearm homicide outside of mass shootings, as well as firearm
suicide. In the seven years before the NFA (1989-1995), the average annual firearm suicide death rate
per 100,000 was 2.6 (with a yearly range of 2.2 to 2.9); in the seven years after the buyback was fully
implemented (1998-2004), the average annual firearm suicide rate was 1.1 (yearly range 0.8 to 1.4). In
the seven years before the NFA, the average annual firearm homicide rate per 100,000 was .43 (range
.27 to .60) while for the seven years post NFA, the average annual firearm homicide rate was .25
    (range .16 to .33).3

Most people really do see the obvious connection but tell themselves (and others) it won't be me or my gun so leave me alone.. This is exactly why in a representative democracy republic leaders need the balls to make decisions for all of us that we'd not make for ourselves as individuals. We've lost that very important feature of a well functioning society. That's why we're fucked.
