Been over here running around with Singlecross and Friends, and today hit it out of the ballpark. Our guide had a special zone outside of Furano that even surprised him today. So So Good today… bunch more days to come[emoji869][emoji869][emoji3587][emoji3587]

It’s getting really good. Say what ya want about Niseko, shit show aside the snow and mountain really are top notch. Every year I get home and think it’s overblown but when ya get on the snow here it’s still a absolute blast!

This storm today is wild. Attempting to get to kyoto for some sightseeing. Flight from aomori to osaka was cancelled so on the shinkansen now to Tokyo (delayed, but not too bad), then going to attempt to get the tokyo>kyoto leg once we hit the station. Longer than our 2 hour fight but the shinkansen is oh so comfortable.

Drive to the station this morning was wild, no vis, trucks flying by, wind howling. Glad we had a guide driving [emoji28]

Some shots from yesterday. 10 cm reported lol

Wouldn’t be surprised if some trains cancelled around Tohoku. Gnarly winds and snow. Near record low temps. The lowest I’ve ever seen at the resort, anyway.

This is going to be an even gnarlier avalanche cycle with the rain event two weeks ago. Wind blown, staticky slabs on a sheet of ice. Yuck.

Banger couple of days up here in Tokachidake. Easily one of the all time tours yesterday, so Deep and So So Good. Today was well below zero with howling winds and Deep. Had to call it a 1 and Done kind of day with the temps and windchill. 1 more tour tomorrow for our crew then time to head back to WY

Having good luck so far, at fuji now and should be to kyoto in 1.5 hours. Bluebird and not a hint of snow in this area, imagine it's in a massive rain shadow

Lifts were closed today but new snow was already moving on that ice layer on Saturday/Sunday.

This new stuff is a welcomed, but dodgy load.

I’ve got cornices in the parking lot.

near whiteout for most of the day at Shimokura. Winds were raging hard. Hard enough to rock the shit out of the rv in the parking lot. Storm still howling away. Tomorrow should be sweet.

So good. I really enjoy how stable and dependable the R120 AM is and they float just fine. A bit heavy for the skintrack up but manageable. They remind me of the dragon era Katanas but lighter and not quite as loose in the tail.

The R120 put my Head Kore 117 on the bench for this trip. I skied the Kore 1 day and put them back in the ski bag. Seemed too light and twitchy.

    22/23 Japan scene?

    Awesome news about the R120.

Not being as loose as a dragon katana reaffirms my thinking that it’s a March Japan ski.

I can’t believe I have skis divided into various months. But, there you go.

My favorite January Japow ski is still a Ren. Maybe a softer Line would enter this world. But it’s rolly-polly fresh. Not dry nor wet. Just snow.

It’s not until February/March that the forest floor settles into a monster base and lines change.

At that point a Ren’s turn radius is too small. This is when (on paper— you want a heritage lab fl113.)

The R120 is a ski I want right now, in the storm cycle, to just nuke the entire mountain.

We spend so much money traveling.
We spend so much money skiing.

When that data all lines up—
    This is why I ski.
