When you make fun of somebody with a disease, you deserve whatever you get.

Lol. A "disease." You DO realize that alopecia is just the fancy term for baldness, right? Mostly hits men, but can sometimes get women too. Not the end of the world. It ain't CF. Sheesh.

Will should be banned from future Oscars and have his current one taken away.

There is a time and a place for violence, front row in the known “roast zone” when a comedian compares your wife to one of the hottest women in Hollywood in her prime is not it.

His speech made it worse. He came off as a megalomaniac that is above the average human and has a duty to “protect” others. My wife and I threw up in our mouths. Hate that guy.

Also, and again, why do you imagine anybody’s condition or sensitivity about it would ever be subject to your value judgment? So fuckin bizarre.

If you can't see the difference between baldness for a man and baldness for a woman, you're a doorknob.

Is it okay to make fun of a kid's severe acne because it's "not the end of the world"? You the type to do that?

The line between an acceptable joke and an unacceptable joke is whether the person you're roasting had any control over the situation. If yes, then it's okay. If not, it's lame and you should be slapped.

Next time you're in a bar walk around and make fun of women's hair. Let me know how that works out for you.

Damn, no wonder this place is a fucking sausage party.

Fuck Jada. She just a narcissist that can’t take a lame joke that wasn’t even an insult. She’s been rocking that same look for over 20 years. She should be honored someone would even suggest she could be the star of a movie at this point since her career is as stale as that weak gi jane joke

Seems obvious. Will Smith gets to slap people without consequences because he's a rich celebrity. Duh

Chris said he didn't know she had alopecia.

My niece has it at a young age so it's pretty comical to hear Jada bemoan it publicly when she's not young, but 50, has a tiny patch of baldness and is apparently a narcissist without an evidence of self reflection.

Kareem's analysis is spot on. Anyone thinking physical violence is justified in reaction to a joke needs a bit of perspective.

I haven’t seen anybody justify the violence. I have seen a lot of people offer justification for the joke (or just excuses) as if that’s the other side of violence.

    It isn’t.

I can’t see how either has much to do with the other.
    focus.

Yea, I had it on and saw that slap and assumed it was fake, then the longest audio freeze in history during Will’s emotional breakdown had me thinking it was real. I could tell Chris was like “what the fuck just happened” and just kept going. Best awards show I ever seen. May have to watch next year when they make fun of it.

If that were Johnny Depp or Brad Pitt instead of Will Smith, what would have happened that night and what would the narrative be?

Pitt isnt married so it doesn't work.

Depp's wife beat the shit out of him, so i doubt he would have stuck up for her. the memes would have been much better.

Well, in Depp's case everyone would just assume he was drunk and shrug it off.

I've heard folks I know said the same thing.. "bout time someone stood up for and defended a black woman. They're not wrong either.. How long was that basketball player sitting in the Russian detention before any high level outrage?

    Not buying it

    Long before this meme.

It was rock with arms behind his back. You don’t do that when faced with a bums rush.

    So fake.

Yet people can rip on men all day long for baldness they can't help, for wearing a toupee, chicks reject them by and large on the dating scene unless they go full shaved head, etc. Men have been self-conscious for ages about it.

Women go bald, and they can have fun with wigs and weaves, guys still wanna bang them no prob, and society is like "Wow. She's so fierce and awesome." Seriously. I dated a girl who was losing her hair at a young age. Former Miller girl. Total hawtness. She wasn't stoked at first, but when we'd go to the clubs/bars, restaurants, ANYWHERE, guys would still hit on her left and right. She came to accept it, did her hair a little different, and even started using different wigs that were a lot of fun. Esp for me. She didn't let it slow her down. And Jada's balding WAY less than that girl was so wah, wah.

Sorry, but it's tough to feel bad for a gorgeous, filthy rich woman like Jada who can't take a weak ass joke. It wasn't even that good of a joke. Chris Rock coulda said some jokes that would've stung way harder. Like he said, that was one of the NICER jokes he had at his disposal. She and Will coulda used this opportunity to EMPOWER other women dealing with the same thing. They could've laughed it off, been like "whatever, I'm still awesome," the world would've forgotten the lame joke in like 15 seconds, yet here we are, still talking about it. NOBODY (except Rock) was giving Jada shit for going bald until Willy made a big stink over it. However, the Fresh Prince sure could dish it out to poor old Uncle Phil.

The pro wrestler reactions say legit. Smith wasn't walking up there locked and loaded. He walked up there arms down and sucker slapped Rock.. who looked like he expected words instead of hands coming at him. If he did feel threatened he was willing to take the first punch to make sure Smith looks like the instigator.. why hands behind him.

    Took it like a man.

    Meh.

A guy comes up on me, my hands are in front.
Not saying I’m swinging. Just ready for a shove if needed.

Rock didn’t even move. It’s WWF time.
