I know this is just anecdotal, but the several people I’ve discussed this with locally all applauded Will for standing up for his wife. I don’t think Will is getting erased. In fact, I think his stock has gone up.

Some how I ended up listening to a talk show on Sirius/XM yesterday hosted and starring several african american women, all of them said Will Smith did the right thing a couple even said Chris Rock got off easy. I can't comment on their personal lives/jokes/the oscars but maybe "we'd" be better off if we might get a smack for running our mouths?

There are some black women (two that I know personally) that take team Will simply because they feel nobody stands up for black women most of the time... especially with stuff like Sandra Bland and Breonna Taylor. They got some support, but before them it was only black male victims who got all the attention.. There have been quite a few female victims. seemingly without advocates.. They saw that as someone trying to do the right thing by standing up for a black woman... even though it was criminal compared to the initial offense..
