So everyone who skis the spats in Colorado is into S&M, an idiot, or a lemming? Maybe if you knew how versatile they are you wouldn't make overarching blanket statements out of your ass. I really wasn't trying to start an argument here but you obviously want to, enjoy responding because I'll enjoy not reading it.

WTF, yeah i'm happy to argue about this as I have 30 minutes to kill before going home. i expressed my opinion of what i think about spats for skiing in colorado which you disagree with, which you are well within your rights to do. if you didn't want to provoke anything, you might start by avoiding telling me i'm stupid and don't understand the ski or their intended use. you probably have a room full of rubix cubes, pet rocks, chia pets, macarena tapes and MC Hammer pants which are also very "versatile," but I ain't buying it.

In an attempt to get back to the subject of the thread...Utards are there any deals to be had on Alta or Snowbasin ticket packs? We have 4 packs here in CO for some resorts where you pay ~$30 to $35/day. What are Alta tickets up to anyway, $42? Friend living in PC means road trips for sure...just wondering.

Spats are also good for pond skimming - ask Phish.

I wasn't going to respond but I wish a room full of that stuff was my new gear for the season. As for the spats conversation: meh.

It's not an amazing price... but it's not bad either.

    -New Skis.

I want used G4s, but the guy at the shop was trying to sell me either some hefty Armada or 4FRNT skis. I'm no jibber but the felt pretty nice.

actually, theres ptex sidewalls on the new model. 03-05 all had wood. hopefully that "minor" difference will solve the durability problems alot of us have had with the goats.

    Pass: Kirkwood

Gear: 2nd touring rig (freerides and 180 T-rocks)

If they're any good I'd like to get a pair of Scarpa Tornados.

If I can find a pair of 194cm LP's (97mm waist) I'd like to get those as well.

Wishful thinking except for the touring rig which I got back in January but have yet to mount or use thanks to a monster Tahoe season followed by a chunk of summer in NZ.

full pass to Crystal, WA. Looking at a few acquisitions, for now debating whether to pick up a pair of 05-06 Public Enemies. Or another pair of 189 05 Pistols, because I know I'm going to trash the pair I have now. Or a Beretta M-9 or a Colt AR-15 (different use, same money pool).

    decisions, decisions...

How well do you ski currently? Might be fun sometime this season to gape it up on two sticks for half a day on Alta groomers and then spend the other half tearing up some Snowbird steeps on one stick.

Speaking of which, and this is a minor hijack - how many of you can alpine, tele, and snowboard reasonably well? I think it'd rock to be good at all three disciplines. I'm going for snowboard + alpine competency first this year, maybe tele in '06-'07.

bridga pass, will be making the 1 month cameo from the middlewest again- 30days +/- ....
caber fae pass for the fam from the mom'n law otherwise
mishygander style touring could be fun for entertaining TRs on the intraweb

gear's not likely changing though my boots are hammered and really- I could use a full makeover but need to buy diapers.....
gear will be the coin it takes to get to mt and stay for a month

re: 3 sporter? I could give it a run as I've alpined all my life, tele'd back in the college days to score the chicks heh, and had a snowboard throughout high school when we were skatepunks (it's been over ten years since I've snowboarded however but its the simplest of the 3, no? )

    This is an excellent thread!!!

We just bought Sugarwood passes ---> Sugarbowl and Kirkwood, best of both worlds. Anyone else besides Lego with this pass, give us a shout! We should coordinate meeting times at Sugarbowl, since this is our first time with this pass.

I just bought the Marmot Women's ATV jacket for backcountry skiing. It was originally $180, but I snagged it for $97 including tax from The Backcountry tent sale this past weekend.

Let's see.....as far as gear goes, I need the following:
    --ski poles (paging Splat...)
    --cramp-ons
    --ice axe
--cross country ski set-up. This is so I can ski to work, and ski in the early mornings with Lego around our neighborhood.

And guess what folks, it's SUPPOSED TO SNOW THIS WEEKEND!!!

Edit: Oh yeah, and thanks to Legoskier, we'll be doing all-day cat skiing once this winter in that valley between sugarbowl and squaw...

    Passes: Mammoth/June, Kirkwood, and Heavenly.
Gear: A second pair of Bros to go with the skins and Freerides I picked up this summer. I'll also be getting an avy beacon, new shovel and probe. More OB skiing this winter along with some well-timed winter BC skiing after taking an avy class.

Used to do that. Told everyone I was a "Triathlete". <snicker>
The combat gear died first. Then once I got real FAT skis the snowboards stayed at the back of the closet. Been mostly a tele-disciple for the last 4 years. Although I'm kicking around the idea of an alpine touring set-up this season.

    Season's Pass: Baker

    Road Trip Destinations: Oregon, Kootenays

Gear: Like 3pin, yugi and freeskisquaw--Capital Thrashers! with shiny new Linkens. Burton gloves. Fresh socks (thin, no padding please). ipod.

Ahh, the sweet anticipation of September!
    Bring it.
