    I guess I'll go sit at the nerd lunch table.
    I was till I found out we were heading back up to Logan, UT area. Beaver is $220, not bad for small mountain. If I was staying in Ogden, no pass, tickets sometimes for quality (chase storms from Basin to Alta/Bird/Solitude), but we did find out, so I spent the little money.

    A Snowbasin pass would have been out of the question if we stayed here, too much moola for us.

    I am glad I am getting back up to the Beav, as I know the mountain well and I need to learn to ski a hell of a lot better. 9 years of boarding and 4 days on skis last year, I need help and the laps will help a lot with my skiing and touring. I like skinning up but have trouble skiing anything but the groomed. No groomed in the BC, so I need to step it up.

    If they come, I will buy this year too. Otherwise, no new gear unless I finagle something (need new board), will devise a plan.

    Just an opinion...there was one day in a ~50 day winter last season (~35 of those in Colorado both front and back country) where I said to myself "I really wish i had spatulas," and I was at Mammoth. I'm glad you spatula owners are having fun, i just think it is like commuting to work on a 8" travel downhill bike.

    On a positive note, during lunch went to Boulder ski deals looking to begin the painful task of laying down a shit ton of money for boots, when lo and behold what do I find they have but a pair of brand new 02-03 Salomon Courses in my size for $200. Love my old boot and only replacing cause it is packed and flexed out, so all is right w/ a brand new pair of essentially the same thing. Sold in five minutes, after labor day weekend fitting cankles into salomon soft shell boots during "Ski Rex," the salesman couldn't have been more psyched with the 30 seconds he had to spend with me.

    Got those for the kiddo. They may be a tad big, but he's growing as we speak! He's got buckle up bindings now and gets frustrated w/ them. I have the flows on my board and they're great. I think this could be the thing that sends my id over to "the dark side."

    Husband has Flows on his Arbor board...but they are freeride type. The husband's not much of a park-rat. You know the old saying "The bigger they are, the harder they fall!"

    Trackhead, make sure to get a one-piece neon Schoeller suit! I think pink would do nicely.

    I don't think you understand exactly what spats are for and how they work. Good score on the boots though.

    Pass=Mammoth
    Gear= 2004 RMK 800 with 163 miles on it, selling last years Voile 166 Freeride and upgrading to the 171 Voile Mtn. Gun. New pair of $100-$150 of the lightest bindings for the new board. The kids have grown out of all their stuff so I'll be hitting the ski swap in Oct.

    they are skis, for skiing. you point them down hill and make repeated turning motions. they are reverse camber and sidecut for deep snow. they are useless for the vast majority of colorado resort skiing days and overkill for the common 4-8 inch storms that are the majority of powder days. and becasue they are metal anyone using them as their BC ski is into S&M or an idiot. I don't think you understand that you are a lemming.
