    Mark Lanegan - R.I.P.

I kinda slept on Screaming Trees (and the whole Seattle scene for that matter) when it was popping off as I was deeply entrenched in rap music and hip-hop culture at the time, but I really got into Lanegan's post Trees solo work later on...always loved his rich and smoky voice.

I saw Sceaming Trees open for Alice in Chains in 93. Been a fan of Mark ever since. When I lived on the lake we would roll a fatty and jump in the Malibu ride out to the middle and blast Uncle Anesthesia and get blazed. Some of the best times of my life. He was a big loss and I don't feel his vocal talent was appreciated like it should have been

    ^^That's a great one.

This might be my favorite Screaming Trees song.

Finished Lanegan's memoir a few days ago, Sing Backwards and Weep. I've read a lot of rock n roll memoirs but this was undoubtedly the most brutal and disturbing. Exhausting too, as addiction memoirs can be. Lots of good rock star stories included along the way too. The dude was out there.
