"And when you talk to Ukrainians, they remind you that they are the ones who would be attacked with a nuclear bomb, not us. Putin has never threatened to use a nuclear weapon against the United States. Ukrainians would like us to stop being so paternalistic in deciding what is best for their national security interests."

Thanks. That was a good article about the haphazard connection between politics and policy. The reason we always do the right thing only after exhausting the alternatives.

Biden Admin. needs to quit fucking around and provide longer range weapons to Ukraine without restrictions on their use. Same for all NATO countries.

It's getting a lot less restricted and just starting to make a difference. Pay extra attention over the next few weeks.

And Ukraine has/had non military Saab 340 aircraft. they have crews that are capable of flying them. Obviously some more training but not starting from zip.

Guarantee this is not some spur of the moment deal, I bet this has been in the works ever since we began training the Ukraine F-16 crews.

Also to note the overall outstanding military reporting by Daily Kos, a blog that openly and proudly calls itself Liberal. Throughout this war Daily Kos has consistently provided top notch information. Their founder, Kos, was an enlisted HIMARS crewman in the US Army and his son is an enlisted Army Ranger on active duty. Kinda funny when the right tries to claim the left is anti-military.

Excited to finally meet Obama in person, I joined his traveling campaign team in southern California at Rick Warren’s Saddleback Church on August 16, 2008, where both Obama and Senator McCain spoke that day.

Cono specifically identified the author as a neocon adviser.
Which is kinda like introducing a musician as ‘convicted pedophile but worth a listen’.

Nothing in that particular essay was neocon-ish. Both it and the Kos piece were interesting

I love me some Daily Kos.

And yes, the military analysis is way above anything I see elsewhere.

He was Obamas ambassador until the month before the first invasion. Some Russians tried to blow him up, so weve got that in common.

Cono seems to have once again confused himself with Karl Rove after huddling in a corner of his office with an empty scotch bottle. Weeping.

Maybe I have him confused with somebody else? Wasn't he the opportunist and a radical who says he would bomb Moscow and Beijing but only after telling Russia to invade a NATO country?

As always, it's about allowing Ukraine to use Western aid against Russia. This latest neocon tangent is a transparent ploy to get around the now shopworn & debunked circular talking point over Russia threatening to launch nukes if the Wests helps Ukraine -->> The West waits 6 months and then helps Ukraine -->> MAGAs try to induce panic over Russia launching nukes -->> Russia doesn't launch the nukes. Ukraine is now hitting Russian targets inside Belgorod Russia and still no WWIII.

Clearly Ukraine just isn't hitting Russia hard enough to invite a nuke strike from Putin. Ukraine needs to up its game and hit Russia really, really hard. Maybe take out the Kerch bridge. Putin's palace. IDK, drop a few bombs on quasi military targets near Moscow.

That was Jake Sullivan in August of 2021 when he was explaining why we needed to get out of Afghanistan, because there were other areas of the world to worry about.

And just months later…Russia was mobilizing.

But you’ll probably say he saw the future.

The Taliban bankrupted their country paying Karl Rove to surrendered American troops and Karl Rove signed the American surrenderd agreement stipulating that America was to tuck tail and run the fuck out of Afghanistan by a certain date, "Like ass on fire!!".

Karl Rove's word is The Law of America. What can Brandon do?

The correct response to Russia unilaterally and illegally annexing territory and then threatening nuclear warfare to hold onto it:

"What happens if a Russian fighter jet is shot down by a Western weapon in Russian airspace? ... It only means that Russia will have one less plane," - Chair of the Defense Committee of the German Bundestag Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann

France will transfer Mirage-2000 fighter jets to Ukraine and train their Ukrainian pilots as part of a new military cooperation with Kyiv as it fights the Russian invasion:

Macron said Ukraine was facing a "huge challenge" training soldiers as it sought to mobilise tens of thousands more troops to go to the front. Macron also said France would equip and train an entire brigade of 4,500 Ukrainian soldiers so they can defend themselves when they return to Ukraine from training.

Zelensky visited France, where on Thursday he attended ceremonies for the 80th anniversary of D-Day

    “No no, you saved Europe.”
    “My hero.”
    “No, you are our hero.”

    Good work by the Froggies

Macron has impressed me recently, after that shit-fuck attempt to work with China on a peace deal.

Binding defense agreement, training, air-superior assets, and the move I really love, suggesting that NATO explore basing forces in Ukraine. He, or someone in his party, understands deterrence.
