The intense fighting video looks really staged. It doesn’t appear anyone is shooting at them. And lots of camera angles for a fire fight

FYI that bus would not stop the rounds. Go right through

Anyway. I might be wrong but I don’t think so

The problem China has is they are an expansionist dictatorship. While the west loves to make money, we also despise expansionists and dictators. Until the change their government, they'll have a very difficult time maintaining good relations.

E.g. a pause in the advance may only mean Kyiv gets fucked on Sunday instead of Thursday.

OTOH, if there is a logistics failure, and the vehicles can't move off the road easily, it could be a total ratfuck getting fuel (or anything) to the front of the line. For the convoy driving from Belarus, I get 125-150 miles to Kyiv. Seems likely they all started with enough fuel to get there. Looking at the BMP1 APC, it has a 370 mile on-road range. So I doubt there's a fuel logistics problem. However, if the road has failed, mileage is suck. (Side note, I hope some farmers managed to plow up the road. A cat with a ripper can really scratch up the furniture. Meow)

That was intense. Where did they send those prisoners?

I imagine they are running the trucks to stay warm at night, burning more fuel too.

Summer may have been a better invasion season.

So apparently "we" are sending another 2700 anti air missiles from old gdr Stocks.
I know that they are not necessarily good against Jets but are there reports out there whether the air dominance has changed after the first stinger charges have arrived? Or have the air Attacks lessened because of the Aa threat?

I listened to this podcast tonight while working. https://www.soundcloud.com/war_colle...ans-for-russia
Halfway through the guest says he thinks it's possible there could be some type of political settlement at some point if president Zelensky decides it would save lives. And if that happens he thinks they'll likely face a terrorist campaign from the occupied Ukrainians. 'If they're lucky it'll be northern Ireland during the troubles in a country the size of France, and if they're unlucky they'll have an Afghanistan.'
    What a grim thought.

Yeah, looks staged for the cameras, I think. No evidence of incoming rounds hitting anywhere nearby. Too much casually standing in front of windows, and jumping out into the open and firing “bravely” standing up.

At least one of Putin's goals has been met: wreck Ukraine as a functioning economy.

    Oh, meow.

The International Cat Federation says it has banned Russian cats from its international competitions in the latest clampdown on Russia since it invaded Ukraine last week.
The federation, which considers itself “the United Nations of Cat Federations,” said in a statement that it was “shocked and horrified” that Russian forces had invaded Ukraine and “started a war.” Known as FIFe (for its French name, Fédération Internationale Féline), it said that the measures were decided Tuesday and that officials could not “witness these atrocities and do nothing.”
It said the rule would remain in place until the end of May and would then be reviewed.
“No cat belonging to exhibitors living in Russia may be entered at any FIFe show outside Russia, regardless of which organization these exhibitors hold their membership in,” said the organization, which spans almost 40 countries.

Ukrainian armed forces announced that they have killed maj. gen. Andrey Sukhovetskiy, a Spetsnaz commander and deputy chief of the 41 Army in Novosibirsk. This appears confirmed by a spokesperson of the Russian Paratroopers Union. If confirmed, major demotivator for RU.

So does Ukraine have no air force? I don't know shit, but if a 40 mile convoy stalled out it sort of seems a sitting duck- like a few planes could just bomb the shit out of it?

Previously covered, that convoy has a lot of organic air defense. Ukraine has some aircraft, but not ones that are good at taking out air defense.
    Russia has many fighters.

In other words,” Inozemtsev wrote, “sanctions against oligarchs would affect the part of Russian big business whose owners are most critical of the current regime and would result in an opposite effect to that desired: the value of the assets of sanctioned ‘oligarchs’ would drop sharply, and their companies would be quickly bought out by the state or by corrupt officials who have long been in business.” Those close to Putin, meanwhile, “would be covered by the new Russian laws providing that the state budget should compensate them for the losses caused by foreign nations’ activities.”

Inozemtsev’s solution? “Only a strict energy import embargo could make Russia feel the pain,” he wrote. It’s the one thing the West seems unable to do.
I dunno - getting reimbursed for losses in rapidly degrading rubles that can only be used in Russia or Belarus may not be a great option in these guys’ minds…

    Ukraine

Hopefully the US is sending a fuck load of strike drones, javelin’s and stingers. The Ukrainian people should have more portable missiles than they know what to do with.

Ukraine’s version of the IRS issues statement regarding income taxes in Ukraine. If you capture a Russian tank you do not have to declare the value of the tank on your income taxes.

i think fuckit, this is the best card the west has left. if people have to pay at the pump, it still has to be done. if you want to win a war i think you should play the cards you have rather than leave them on the table.

saudi arabia should be compelled to pump overtime and maybe feel around for an iran nuclear deal - make it robust - but see what’s there.

    Fuck the Saudis.

US can spin up shale oil/gas production quickly. Finish the pipelines for safer cheaper transport.

That can tide us over until the free world can build enough solar/wind/nukes/EVs.
