You're clearly the one who's feelings are hurt. I really don't think anyone else here today gives much of a shit.

You just said something dumb and got called out for it, got upset, and are now projecting these feelings on others. We all do it from time to time, it sucks but we eventually cool down. Go enjoy a nice, cold soda!

There was an extensive list of those who had.

It's nice to know you didn't take the trouble to look for it.

It has nothing to do with feelings being hurt--you decided not to believe a fact. That makes you an idiot, and that's what everyone has pointed out. It seems your feelings are hurt--sorry, post stupid shit win stupid prizes. You're a winner.

If the resistance to booting RU from SWIFT is rooted in oil dependence, is there a feasible way to get oil from other sources to the countries who currently depend on RU? It looks like DEU gets somewhere around 1/3 of their oil from RU which is a ton.

No feelings are hurt. I hate the fact that I can't say anything about a political figure without it becoming a our party vs. your party conversation. It's annoying. I stand my ground on all of that and won't apologize.

I've seen the list of donators but I don't remember lists like that, my brain doesn't work like that unfortunately. For those that did I really appreciate that but if I thought it would make me your bitch with political discussions I would have declined. Identity politics are dumb and I will call people out when they steer something unintended into one.

What's the fact and how do we know that it's a fact?

Biden has a speech impediment. Always has. Doesn't matter if you don't believe it. I'm not going to bother proving this to you.

I took his stoppages in speaking as partly his stutter but for the most part i think he was stopping himself on expanding his answers to the questions. He was being measured. Deciding to keep it brief just as he started to expand on his answer. It leaves less to be misinterpreted. He was smiling when he was rethinking his answers

Is there any information on that from before 2018?

Even if so, that didn't look like it was his problem with speaking yesterday.

Germany is leaning heavily into solar
Of any of the EU, they likely have the determination to become mostly fossil free — their industry sector is the hardest hole to plug tho. And the transition will take decades, not years.

JFC. You’re not a trained speech pathologist. Like many stutterers, by the time he got to college he learned coping mechanisms, ones that speech pathologists can recognize in use when viewing his videos. In 2008 he made a widely viewed speech about his lifelong battle with stuttering, but his more private discussions went back to the 70s.

We live in a world of fucking dumbass conspiracy theories. To someone with judgment and maturity, it’s obvious that his life story checks out on this subject. If you’d rather believe that over the decades he used a potentially embarrassing (at least to the bullies in the world) condition as a chess master precursor to a viable excuse when he hit senility, go for it, but there might remain a voice of reason inside you thinking ‘huh maybe I’m a dumbass for making this so complicated and insidious’.

And his management of this Ukraine situation is what matters.

And even within the past few years you occasionally hear the stutter resurface. It's actually pretty impressive how he's overcome it--so many people didn't know he stuttered until fairly recently. Remarkable people would claim it's not real (and then get upset when called out over it).

Stop being a putz on this particular issue; the more you dig in, the worse it looks

You may need to hit the card catalog to get the publications prior to 2000s. Just cuz it’s not on the internet doesn’t make it not exist

How about instead of this boring ass discussion on Biden’s appearance and speech impediment we discuss the actual potential impact of the US response?

Never ceases to amaze me how easily distracted the average US citizen is by unimportant shiny objects.

As pointed out, the future whims of the US population to elect a Putin sympathetic politician to the Presidency probably has a lot more to do with the effectiveness of the sanctions than lots of other factors.

On the fuel cost conversation: I frankly could give a shit about the people have been poorly positioning themselves WRT to fuel costs by purchasing large, fuel inefficient vehicles with their disposable income.

I think this is a time for some sacrifice, as stopping this psycho seems to be of paramount importance at this point to avoid a larger future conflict.

Somebody needs to explain to me the complaining about net gas exports:

1- from a long term perspective, what is the point of consuming all of the US in ground reserves before the rest of the world?

2- I thought the reduction in US production was pretty closely tied to a concerted effort by OPEC to hold down oil costs below the point where it was profitable for US industry to produce? That was the conversation a few years ago at least.

Haha. That's fair. My jackasses etc. post was a bit extreme, I apologize for that little flying off the handle moment. I've been bed bound for four days now fighting a really mean post covid bronchitis. I think I need to go get outside and get the lead out. It's been a tough month.

Just because it's on the internet doesn't make it true. In todays world we really need to use critical thinking. If you don't believe that the US government isn't using the media and internet to shape stories and voters opinions etc. you may not be the sharpest pencil in the box.
You're talking to a wall here. As long as he isn't Trump for a lot of people here, he's cool, although he is obviously in serious decline, is powerless domestically, because he can't get anything done for his base, blaming a West Virginian senator for all of that, and now has been embarrassed on the international stage. Truely an empire in decline.

It looks more like a Democratic campaign endorsing him for presidency and to cover up his cognitive decline.
When I was young (and obviously naive) I can remember taking this wide plastic ruler to school every day with all of the presidents on it. It had facts about their birthplace, party, birth / death dates, and a portrait. It was at the end of Reagan's presidency, and there were two rows of 20. I remember looking at the pictures, memorizing facts about them, wondering where tf monticello was, how some people were elected twice, whatever. At that point as a kid I obviously saw America as an unequivocal good in the world, and that these presidents were to be admired - regardless of political affiliation they were playing for Team America. Obviously you live and learn that there is a bit more nuance, and some are better than others, but it held true through HW and Clinton, warts (genital? lol) and all - Team America.

W through a wrench in my beliefs because he was dumb, full stop. Partisanship ruled the day since him, and things only got worse when we ended up with a narcissistic criminal in 2016.

Now Biden is here, and yeah, he is old, but despite the gaffes he's had (which are career long), I was hoping for a return to some of the normalcy in the team thing I saw as a kid. Instead, I come here and see complaints about his old looks, the way he walks, and low info talking points, instead of anything substantive about policy. When Putin and Xi talk about America as a failing power, this is it. It's like half the country stores their brains in a tanning booth every night. Maybe instead of elections we should just replace the process with a season of The Bachelor?

Here's a story that begins with him talking about his stutter from 2008, it did not take long to find:
