Not looking good for Ukraine at the moment. How long can they be expected to put up a fight on the ground in a conventional war while Russia has complete air superiority?

My money is on Zelenskyy surrendering to try to limit civilian deaths, a Russian puppet regime being put in place and a prolonged guerrilla warfare campaign against Russian occupation by Ukrainian nationalists.
Yeah, seems likely, but I have trouble believing Putin is actively courting Afghanistan 2.0 here. Pretty sure those cruise missiles yesterday took care of Ukraine's weak air force, did hear about some heavy resistance to Russian land troops in a few places.

Right now the tv is interviewing people on the street in Russia. People in Russia who also speak English don’t support the war

To add even homely Russian girls are kinda hot

I don’t know how everyone else feels but I am still kinda in shock that this is happening. This is crazy shit.

Just crazy feeling detached from it. But not so much.

Yea. He’s been running roughshod over Russian politics for years but

I’ve met someone Russians they have a line and I would not want to cross it

But Putin might be batshit crazy. Sure looks like it

Maybe. So far from the world. All talk
I think one of Ukraines neighbors sent them some arms. But so far not much else

I guess we’ll find out later how much more Russia did today

I don’t see anything near real time suggesting a big push

Putin might be losing his marbles...seriously.

Also, probably the most genius move Putin made was supporting Trump in his presidential candidacies. It completely flipped the GOP from being anti-Russia authoritarianism to mildly supporting it. I didn't think it would work when he did it, but sure as shit, here we are.

    Ukraine

Crazy video of those Russian choppers flying in. Can’t believe they left an airfield like that one wide open.

Zelensky did not heed Biden’s warnings as much as he should have. Guy was a comedian/actor. Yes I’m complimenting Biden.

Love it but I don't have the same level of faith in my generation. Still glad not to be a Millennial or worse.

It was hard to work today. I wanted the tv on, a computer going and surfing on my phone to keep up with all the action. History was unfolding. What I observed, and it’s possible not all of it is true:

    1. The Russians took Chernobyl. Why?

    2. Word is Ukraine’s air-force is destroyed, but that is being denied.

    3. Lots of fake images running rampant. Stuff from years ago, other parts of the world, summer and out of context.

    4. Families really fucking scared.

    5. Men 18-60 can’t leave the country.

    6. Unverified rumors of the Chechens fighting on BOTH sides. Wtf?

    7. Sanctions, but not cutting Moscow out of SWIFT because Germany and the EU doesn’t want to.

    8. Military airport 15 miles from Kyiv taken by the Russians early in the day and then supposedly retaken by Ukraine.

    9. Civilian casualties.

    10. Shit blown up.

    11. Rumors that 10,000 automatic rifles are being given to civilians to defend Kyiv.

    12. Biden Presser.

    13. Supposed mobile crematoriums in the field so Russia can hide their tracks.

This is a war in fast forward.

SWIFT thing is particularly surprising. Why not cut that?

Yup. Pretty wild. I'm not going to name names but several examples of posters here who flipped/were duped.

Fuck Germany and the EU. That is the only thing that will get Putin's attention and being tried as a war criminal in the Hague with any and all of his assets subject to seizure.
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

IF enough oligarchs start losing money by the billions do they collectively off Putin ? I know it might lead to another Putin but the can is kicked a bit further down the road....

If you had a $100B thanks to Putin's regime is it really a big deal you now have $80B?

I think they're already under maximum sanctions from the shit when they forced the passenger plane down and whatnot.

It's too bad the last admin ditched the deal we had with Iran. That may have been helpful during these times in this regard to marginalize Russia more.

This. Would still be more painful for Russia than anyone else, but for certain individual entities in the west it would be very difficult to bear, maybe more than they could bear. Still, I agree that it should be done and I think France has indicated they would be open to it. Could also move the world away from using USD, although I'm not entirely clear on why (or even if that's accurate), but supposedly that's made Biden hesitant to really push for it.
