Anyone know my relative, Natron Smith at Vail?

I remember when he moved to Vail from Madison, Wisconsin and his Dad was really concerned with his "life" choices and smoking cannabis frequently.
Last time I saw him he was super haggard, injured, trying to sell art and highAF and drunk. That was probably 5 years ago and I can't imagine the pandemic treated him well. He's like a loud white washed up wannabe rasta.

Yep, that's him. Last time I actually saw him in person was in Boston at our mutual cousins' wedding.

If being an injured haggard artist was a crime I wouldn't still be among free living maggots.

I figured as much. Fwiw, I was able to get a day ticket to PCMR last year for around $140 day of. Peaks hotel sells some sort of ticket for charity but it makes sense Vail, CO aint playing that game.

Ongoing, VR now wants the town to pay $1.2M in attorneys fees AND they are appealing the condemnation.

This is not as April Fool-zy as Unofficial thinks it is. Modern day Disney and VR would be a good match.

It would be kind of cool to ride a roller coast up the hill instead of a chair lift.

Apparently they planned to build a ski resort a long time ago.

Walt financed Sugar Bowl Ski Areas development and helped Squaw secure it's Olympic bid in 1956.

I always thought the elevator lift to get into the tram at Squaw felt like a theatrical Disney ride experience. I wouldn't be surprised if Walt had something to do with that too.

Looks like the gloves are coming off.

Councilmember Tamara Wallace said, “I was willing to take a soft approach on the parking agreement in order to be a good partner on the annexation, but that was obviously not an approach that was amenable to Heavenly or Vail.”

She went on to propose canceling the parking agreement, enacting permit parking in the Heavenly neighborhood, and putting up parking barriers on Ski Run Boulevard during ski season, “Until they come back to the table with a letter of support for annexing, at this point, the whole mountain.”

The global ski resort behemoth is cutting 14 percent of its corporate staff after a tough year. But will its new business strategy affect your ski experience?
    ...

Despite the cost cutting and revenue woes, Vail Resorts continues to eye expansion and acquisition.

^^^Hopefully all of this means they won’t be interested in buying Mt Bachelor from Powdr. That would be going from one ring of hell to the next one

Lynch walks with a 2.2 million dollar severance package and all of her stock holdings become vested on her last day.

She had a tough job trying to make the board happy, skiers happy, while maintaining share price. Not making excuses for her but she had some no win situations, and it is easy for the board to let her take the fall for what were some inevitable bumps in the road that were attacked with old school business principals that failed to take into account the reality of today's environment. The PC strike was catastrophic but I wonder how much rope she had going in. She did what had to be done in the end and now she is gone.

We'll see how long this white boys club back at the helm stock price bump lasts. I bought a few shares in the 130's just to dance with the devil. I agree it is a step sideways.

Her handling of the PC Patrollers negotiation was criminally incompetent. Huge brand value hit plus a big labor cost increase pretty much systemwide. Didn’t need to happen but management had to show who had a bigger dick - turns out it was the employees…

I see in The Stash that some real estate billionaire made an offer to buy PCMR. Unlikely to go anywhere but another sign the wolves are circling

Their largest source of revenue is ticket/epic sales, but they forgot to focus on the actual skiing part. Fuck them.

Looks like Rob Katz is doing what every incoming CEO does - Reorganize!

Instead of organizing geographically they will organize around “Customer Experience”
Destination resorts - Vail, Beaver Creek, Whistler, PCMR and Breckinridge
Regional resorts - Crested Butte, Heavenly, Stevens Pass, and Stowe.
    Local resorts
    Other than North America

    Problem solved!

Maybe PCMR should have its own category, in an effort to not further taint any of the others.

Would not be surprised if the number of days available at each ski area on Epic are are also in correlation with these different designations.
