Simply amazing! Must suck to be the best in the world and get your ass kicked by some 40 year old practically immobile serve machine goddess. Again, that other lady should have gone back to the drop shot. Why did she stop? It was working. Trading baseline volleys with Serena isn't the way to beat her at all...

Yep. Serving and hitting with that much power on her ground strokes, she had a shot.

Fitness and mobility are the ?

I think 43-0 in the first two rounds of the Open speaks incredible volumes.

This reminds me of Jimmy Connors in 1991 at age 39. He was ranked 174 heading in and most were saying he didn't belong there.. If this is as far as Williams goes, it's still EPIC.

Maybe she drops out of doubles and goes all in on singles [emoji848]. She needs less court time, rest, and recovery time IMO.

I know she wants to play with her sister and doubles has a lot more standing around, but there is a special window lining up here….

Shot of her and Tiger in the tunnel makes me wonder.

I've never been a Serena fan, at all. But she's the GOAT, a goddam icon, both in sports and in our culture, and she's 40 years old (likely) playing her last tournament, in a young person's game. Fuck yeah I am rooting for her.

I get it.. Someone in her position "like her" has to be extra "nice" with millions of little kids watching her. She wasn't always living up to that elevated standard. I'm actually sitting here wondering if I'd be anywhere near as excited to see a 40+ year old 250 pound Joker making the same kind of run. Probably not. Can't stand that guy...

Jimmy Connors? Hated him almost as much.. but was all in when he made waves again in 91.. probably because he's American I was willing to forget about what an ass he was sometimes back in the day..

Jimmy Connors won the US Open on grass, clay, and hard court.

^^^^ ya forgot about the first generation of smaller steel rackets. Still see them in thrift stores..

Doubles match dead even first set all the way to the end of the tiebreak. Sisters are having FUN. That's all that matters IMHO...

Dee, I forget is it you that’s always in the camera bay at the Open?

    If so, appreciate the shots!

Serena had the first set on her serve at 5-3 but got broke. Now 5-5.

Russ and Cierra in her box.

I want to see Garcia move on to. Early first set.

    Serena drops the first 7-5.

Up 4-0 and serving. She went up a notch in the 2nd big time.

She starts strong then fades late in the set. If only she could keep it going.

Yeah, then at least you don’t have to hear the NYC crowd clapping for a double fault. Then when Tomljanovik complained to the umpire they booed her. Very sophisticated crowd, right, but hey, it’s New York. Dipshits.
