That tip looks a bit like the spurred Bodacious? But it looks like it's a bit narrower? How wide is the Duke PT toe?

Something all wood, fiberglass, and no carbon? From the looks of it, that would be very welcomed. + taper and a straight sidecut? Thank you, Ian!
Agreed. And Dstar can still suck it.

Would say is a Revolt 110-112 but what do I know…
Yeah, I'm trying to ignore that center mounted look. Hoping it's just a guy with big feet on a 165cm ski. Still have my fingers crossed on a cheaper VWK
Pretty sure my scott one also says "50 deployments" in the manual.
isn't that the standard revolt construction+shape -> glass, wood, heavily tapered and low slung deep rockers? It is frankly odd that it has taken them this long to fill in that gap. Völkl produce a shit ton of skis, so odd to have this glaring hole in the lineup for years on end.
sorry to bust the bubble, but VWKs had a significant price hike for dealers in Euroland prior to this season (dunno about over yonder). The increase was due to a significant increase in cost of carbon due to Covid, and as VWs are rather carbon intensive shit ads up.
As such, the likelihood of them dropping in price at retail is slim to none. Hell, it is more likely that the v werks skis will be discontinued alltogether than that their prices will drop imho, sadly as they are killer skis (even if the VWKs mount point is silly far back).
also, Evo's preview has been updated a bit.
Same company that decided to ruin the Mantra's strengths in Gen 4 and made the utterly irrelevant Kendo 92 in 2020. Wouldn't put it past them or any other large company to stick their fingers in their ears and pretend nobody wanted X ski. FWIW there's nothing else in Volkl's lineup with that amount of taper other than the revolts, looks like similar construction, and it looks centered so i'm going with that mid-fat waist hypothesis, even a touring variant maybe? Reviving the Bash 116?
I'll be at the Louise demo day next week, if anything new is on-hand i'll be on them. In particular looking to see if Paradise fixed their jank tails in the new lineup. I otherwise loved the heavy-duty construction but those flat, low-splay-rocker long-taper tails hook so bad on steeps and fishtail in soft snow. I got to handle their 97mm offering pre-release when I was in-store last month: Near-full-twin with more typical rocker, lots of camber height, still -6 ish for the line, looked like a lighter PBJ. Top sheet was a hoot.

Completely agree. But, Atomic had the same hole in their lineup for like 5 years, and Rossi had a couple years of a fat Black Ops and a skinny Black Ops with nothing in-between. There has to be some rationale these brand have for not making something in that 108-112 category, that for a lot of North American skiers is the most versatile waist width. Seems like an interesting decision that several Euro brands have made.
I used to live in Cham and really liked the ~100mm and ~120mm 2 ski quiver there. It's usually fairly hard snow, but when it snows it lasts much longer then where I live now (Whistler) so I could ski the 120 all day in fresh and then go back to 100mm.
Here in Whistler the pow literally lasts two runs so that 110-115mm shape is much more suited.

Somebody posted earlier about a new ATK “evo” binding. Any more details. I like the current models though the brake can be a bit fiddly. What’s the scoop for next year?
Back from the Louise Demo Day. A couple '23 skis tested. Weather conditions were shit; snow conditions was ripe for testing. 4 inches fresh in the back and refills all day, dust on crust in the front, corn harvest on the lower front by afternoon. 4 distros and DPS either noshowed or was hiding and I CBA to look for them, so a bit disappointing. Anyways..

Nordica Unleashed 108 in 186cm
Ran it through West Bowl. Skis like a Nordica. Meaning, 3/5 with a handful of 4's in every category. VS Enforcer, the 4's come in playful categories instead of damp/stable ones. Very average in all respects. Felt like not enough ski for me up front so I ended up tail riding a bit to not fold over @ -6cm and that was unsettling; no 191 was available at all. A lot of folks are going to be happy this ski does a lot of things and can 1q for most days out. There's going to be curmudgeons like me who bitch about how it doesn't excel at anything in particular. I would -love- to A/B it to a Mfree-108, if I could get on one...
Blizzard Hustle 10 in 188cm
Again the longest length available. I wasn't even planning on riding, but I had the unleashed literally snagged right in front of me...
This was...the surprise of the day. Some of the reports flowing in here are correct. I liked it. Really liked it for what it was. You have a very obvious speed limit and nuking is out of the question. But it was not hooky and light enough to muscle through lowspeed wet 'pow', held edge really well in Highline and kept stable in the chop there, and you can swivel with zero effort. One of the cleanest, smoothest glade lines i've run came off them, in dusted refrozen. You can push forward or stay neutral. Keep the fall line steady and the ski will dig in or slarve predictably based on pressure applied, and also not immediately punishing if you get back a little. You can definitely run this in resort most days if you dial back. I'd consider it for a 50/50 if/when I am in the market for AT.
Zag Patrol/Harfang 106 in 192cm
I guess it's "new" to the local market. Typical big mountain stick. It wants to go straight and fast or you're going to be doing all the work. 192 is too much for most of the local terrain for my weight as i'd be down the slope in 5 turns, 186 would suit me better. Tail releases predictably but requires deliberate effort to do so (think mantra 102), clearly going to wear out your legs fast in tech. Nothing super special; It's no Bode. It just does what it says on the tin.
Paradise Vice 105/113 in 187/190cm
The new lineup from the Calgary company. For skis that were so similar in design other than width there was a clear demarcation in how well they worked for me, and I think it comes down to not having enough ski in front and overpowering the tips. Neither likes any form of lazy skiing and by design you have to pressure the shovels or the tails will dig in and hook you, but the recc. mount point is also pushed forward. The increased tail rocker at the taper point helped, but much like the Red's from last year I own, the 105 at ~-5cm were not heavy enough to avoid deflection and I got that over-handlebars feeling, and if you can't charge it was a constant fight to keep in the very small sweet spot it has in a more neutral stance. The 113's were mounted further back at around -8cm. Add about 300g, and the difference was substantial. Playful charger? Yes. Immediately made comparisons to the Wildcat. They are not as forgiving but they handled more consistently in the low-tide snow when you were on top of them. The topsheets fuck too.
They also have a 97mm underfoot, which I did not ride as i wasn't in the market for that width but i'd imagine more similar to the 105 due to mount point; and a tour layup at ~106mm with a flatter tail that I saw pull up for return right as the day ended.
Skis I wished I could have used: Hustle 11; Enforcer Unlimited: Both had nothing above 180cm available, and I knew I was..
A: Not going to like them so short anyways. B: Liable to snap the latter if I tried.
