It is one of the best laid out packs I’ve ever used, it carries skis really well, keeps my things reasonably organized, and isn’t very heavy (mine weighs in at 725g).

The avalanche took pocket is inside the main pocket, which, in my opinion, is ideal. I’d hate to have an outer, zippered pocket fail for some reason, and then worry about my tools coming out. With the cirque, even if the keeper clip fails, your tools are still secure inside the pack. As for speed in rescue scenarios, the extra 1-2 seconds should not make a difference. If you find the interface fumbly, then practice with it. I don’t see why the internal avy pocket is any worse than the other options out there.

My only gripe about the cirque is that BD used cheap ass fabric, and it doesn’t hold up as well as it should. If there was a cirque made with cordura and xPac/Challenge sailcloth, products, it would be a perfect ski pack.

As for the new hyperlite pack, I’m disappointed. I have an older 70L porter that I use for backpacking, packrafting, and overnight ski trips, and I like it enough. But seeing the new products they are bringing to market makes me think that their company’s priorities have shifted drastically.

I think the 30LT is solid at the weight, but the 45L is 1060g with not a lot of organization and features to match the weight increase. I think the pack I am laucnhing soon should match what you are looking for when you say you want a Cirque with Challenge Sailcloth fabrics. I challenged myself when designing the pack I am releasing soon to try to match that weight of the 45L Cirque with more features, durability and comfort so my packs comes in at ~1080g, has a removable frame, thicker foams, more organization, removable back panel, more secure helmet carry, Challenge Ultra400x, more organization including a no zip stash pocket and more. You can be notified of the launch at raideresearch.com.

I’m a one big sack / high durability kind of guy. Love my 4 lb Patagonia snowdrifter 40l. The only downside is the small avy compartment. Can’t fit a huge shovel but I’m almost always solo so don’t carry a huge shovel. This pack carries very well and is narrow for tree skiing. I added a helmet carrier, pouch, whatever the fack it’s called.

Coated pack cloth/cordura for me. 2 or 3 extra lbs for a bomber pack ain’t crap IMO.

I’ve found the Mammut Nirvana 35 to be a great bag for most “touring” days, I use an older 45L poacher Dakine bag for more mountaineer style missions to allow for extra gear. With packs it all depends on the size of your other gear, and how big your bag needs based on fitting everything you want to bring and what features you value.

In a slight change of plans I ended up ordering the Gregory Targhee FastTrack 35 since I found one in my size for $100. Potential internet scam aside, the bag at least seems to check most of the boxes for me. I'm not sure how much I will actually use the skimo carry system yet, but maybe it will be worthwhile to have.

Its not as light as I was hoping for, but I expect to remove the frame at a minimum.

Ski and especially snowboard carry looks exceptionally janky on that pack. Maybe I just need to see in IRL.

I saw the Raide pack on Thursday at the bent gate party, seemed nice! Slick avy tools storage, roll top + cinch seemed useful, felt light, supportable frame still. Was fully impressed. Was regretting pulling the trigger on another pack just beforehand.

First time I used that pack I though my water bottle had leaked. Came to find out is was snow melting off my shovel that had nowhere to go but into the main pack..

Other than that feature (which I can add myself if needed, haha)
It looks like it ticks all the boxes for a more featured, but not over the top, pack.
    very well done.

Hey everyone! I appreciate the positive feedback. Looks like you guys found the pack before my official announcement on Tuesday. We will have a first look from Blister and Powder as well as announcements from athletes. I will make a separate thread for the company announcement, but happy to answer any questions in the meantime.

Yea, it has drainage, from the avy tool storage and drainage from the cinch. The drainage for the avy tool carry is behind the ice tool pocket so you can't see it, but it's there!

Name Redacted, curious what makes you think it looks janky? The ski carry and snowboard carry are attached to the frame of the pack so they are actually much more secure than most ski/snowboard carry's.

Mainly the skinny straps with no protection from edges from what i can tell in pics. Like I said. Maybe i just need to see it in person to appreciate it.

Fair call out, I appreciate the questions, the bottom loop of the diagonal ski carry has 2 layers of webbing to reinforce it. With diagonal that is what supports most of the weight and the top strap is just for positiion so it doesn't get much wear. The side compression straps and bottom snowboard carry strap have rubber at the attachments to the pack, which is where your edges will interface with the strap.

I think it looks great, and I'm tempted. I wish it had 2, bigger hipbelt pockets, though. Those are kind of non-negotiable for me....

How does the glove thing on the shoulder strap work? It's unclear from the description.

I am in. This checks all the boxes and my last pack is uhhhh a little fucked from bleeding all over it.

Also am I the only one who doesn't stuff all sorts of shit into their hip belt pockets? Maybe a couple snacks, my leatherman and a scraper is all I ever need in there.

The hip belt pocket on skiers right hand side will get 1.25" longer between the pictured version and the production version. I think you will be happy with the size. I chose to do 1 just to manage weight.

The glove stash is a strip of webbing with a pull tab on it attached to the shoulder strap via elastic so you can stick your gloves inbetween the webbing and strap and they stay put while touring uphill. I decided to add this because a lot of people are taking there gloves off during a tour to touch their phones and having a quick place to put them saves time over a ski tour.

Looks pretty sweet, any plans to make a slightly smaller one, like a 30 liter version?
