About as twitchy as a Blizzard 0g 85 you think? That's my other choice.
I've only demoed a pair of Magicos, they are the dampest and most solid feeling 1100g skis on the market, they are also very demanding and especially "locked in" feeling which kind of sucks on 3d snow
Getting off topic… but I’ve always been intrigued by the Trab Neve, as a light but looser do everything bc ski - especially after Down beefed up their lighter Countdown
It might be easier than other Trab skis but the Neve is not a particularly loose ski. I love Trab bindings but their skis are not it. The Heritage Lab BC90 is worth a look with similar weight and dimensions.
C90 is great for funky wild snow, so smooth and pivoty

Posted this sale on Gear Swap in case anyone here is Trab Neve-curious

Per suggestions from this thread last spring I'm swapping out my BD Helio 76's for something a little wider, which hopefully will do better in poor snow conditions. Ended up with some Blacklight 88's and we'll see how they go. Interested in trying some other options in the 85-95 range (whether borrow or buy) to further suss out what I like, as my touring increasingly falls in the big day category rather than downhill-oriented.
Anyway - listed in the Helios in gear swap (+ bindings, skins, crampons) in case anyone's interested. I do think they might be someone else's jam but either as part of a larger quiver or in another region: https://www.tetongravity.com/forums/...terwear-brakes
I’ve got a set of brand new unmounted Atomic Backland 86SL 172cm, would trade for the 179cm version or similar if someone is keen.

Anyone been on the Locator 88? Considering a 88-90mm ski. ~1200g is the zone for me I think. BTW, Skimo.co informed me that the Titan Vario Light binding is back this coming season. Never got to try them the first time they were around, sounds like a great option for these skis to maintain some compliance/give and have race-binding weight.
^^^ Nothing really to add other than that these are also high on my list if I add a 90ish waist bc ski. I'm kinda torn between the Loc 88, Wayback 88 and Solly Mtn 86. Have at least one friend on the Loc 104 and she really digs em as a do everything bc ski.
Any feedback/consensus on the kastle tx87?
Still unsure about what boot I would ski it with but I have my hawx xtd for everyday use as well as some quantum asolos which I got for dirt cheap here in italy.
My skinny ski career has consisted in the very first orb Freebirds back in the day and some Salomon s-lab (borrowed for a couple outings).
Working on jigs for light touring and skimo bindings. Currently have ATK, Alpinist. OAZO and ION/ZED are coming asap. Jigs will be accurate enough to mount even non-adjustable skimo bindings quickly and easily. What models would you want? Off topic but also have pivot and marker. Tyrolia / Attack should be out next week.
Trab! Vario.2, Titan Gara, Titan Vario Light, TR-2 (although not sure how popular they are). The first three I believe are 30x27mm toes, should make things easier.
Ooh I wasn't aware of this vario light business... So is that trab bringing back the vario 1, but without the adjustment plate? Very interested.

also at bottom of this ppage is vario without adjustment plate
I was able to pick up a lightly used 186 BTM94 for very cheap reacently. Going to mount them up with MTN toes and R150 (with K14 plate) heels to land in the H-pattern. This will keep it light and hopefully fill the gaping quiver hole between Backland UL85 and CD104L nicely. Any recomendation on mount point? Has anyone cut a skin notch into those tips? Looks like they need to be short to not interfere with the Völkl hole in the tips. Otherwise I am not too woried as the construction seems solid and there is no edge around the tip.
OK I'll look into Trab bindings.
You might want to check out/ask on the BMT 94 thread: https://www.tetongravity.com/forums/...od-is-it/page9, although I am sure there are people subscribed to both of this here and that there thread. I think in general, though, consensus seems to be it has got a pretty wide margin for good mounting positions, plus or minus. I am not sure about tip mods.I was able to pick up a lightly used 186 BTM94 for very cheap reacently. Going to mount them up with MTN toes and R150 (with K14 plate) heels to land in the H-pattern. I made an attachment that goes through the hole in the BMT tip, but I think this guy has drilled a notch in front of it http://www.skimolife.com/journal/201...bing-skin.html
I've been following the advice in that article and run skins with no tail clip the last couple of years without issue, just keep an eye on the last four inches of glue and touch up occasionally.
Another option are the ski trab skin tips, which I think are great.
