    Ask these dudes.

Today I had a two-fer, island visit in the morning, car races on the ice in the afternoon.

    Different lake, but close by.

Dunno about Harry's ice, but in Vermont it's 50 MPH. Frozen waterways are public highways by law, and that's the speed limit by law where nothing else applies.

    That's pretty funny

When I was a kid we got chased by a cop and we ran across the pond, the cop chased us out onto the ice and then his car broke though it. Oops.

I guess he got okay, I dunno, we didn't stick around to find out.

Big events on my island. The DNR approved my permits. I was issued a Sanitary Permit allowing for a composting outhouse, and a Land Use Permit allowing a 1-bedroom dry cabin. This winter I had a logging crew clear about a 1/4 acre at the highest point above the lake with a sweeping panoramic view. Going with an A-Frame, similar to the one KQ posted earlier in this thread.</p>

Nice Harry! I’m still slowly plugging away on my Island. Plan for this Summer is to deconstruct a treehouse from our property and move it out to the Island to gain a better toehold and base of operations to build the main cabin. It will then become a guest bedroom where you are always welcome!

How dry does a dry cabin have to be?

I bought a well used four wheeler that will become my islands workhorse. This was a difficult decision, as I really cherish my islands wilderness feel. But I am getting old and slowing down. And with building a cabin having the four-wheeler will make moving building materials so much easier. I will take the front seats out of my pontoon boat and barge it out to the island. I always thought that the perfect retirement land would justify/support a Gator type purchase. I think your case is prefect.

    Harry’s Island

This is cool. The Blue Angels just flew right over my island at low level. (Three) groups of (two) planes, (six) planes total, spaced about (thirty) seconds apart. Real low so loud AF.

Air show in Duluth this weekend.

    Fly Navy, FKNA !

Were they in town last week also, like Wednesday? From the deepest depths of the BWCA we could hear jets in the distance that kept making what sounded like circles. It felt a bit dystopian with no access to news and the Iran thing, but this would explain it.

(( in Eau Claire (wi) last weekend ))

There used to be an Air Guard unit in Duluth.
( I am not-sure what their current status is. )

    AI has the 148th fighter wing of the Air National Guard stationed in Duluth, mn ;

on a Wednesday, my bet would be you heard them flying exercises --
