Is September the Worst Month of the Year

Is September the worst month of the year? Yes. Think about it. It's not summer anymore because I'm back in school, but it's not really close enough to ski season either. It's like right in the middle of the two best seasons. Cheers to the worst month!

September isn't the greatest, but I think October is worse, at least where I am.

It really starts to get cold, there's still no snow anywhere close, there are no holidays, and I'm not used to the fucking cold stumble home from the bar. I can't do it in shorts and tshirt in case I don't make it, and coatcheck gives me WTF looks when I bring my bivy sack.

Furthermore i'm still too pussified from the warm summer to hack the downhill ride to school on my bike... but I'm too manly to show it. so i have drool frozen across my cheek, blue hands and bloodshot eyes

So basically, October is just generally not tight at all.

I always had to will myself to enjoy the summer months instead of wish it would just hurry up and get over with. Life is too short to try and piss away any of it, especially during your prime.

Nah, September is a great month. Everything starts to change and there's so much anticipation in the air. Plus it's the best month of the year to backpack.

I would agree that Oct. is the hardest one to get through. That's usually when I soak in Palmolive or make myself a Calgon bath.

September's tough, but for 13 years I've always been able to find somewhere to snow ski in September. The worst month for me is October. There have been a few years where there was absolutely no snow to ski in Utah and barely enough in Oregon. I predict that someday when my little streak finally comes to an end it will be October that does me in.

September sucks the big one, I keep passing over my skis to pick up my golf clubs

October doesn't bother me because at least its getting closer, theres the beautiful fall color, and its not 99% humidity anymore
For sure, you have to be lost to find a place that can't be found, elseways everyone would know where it was

I'm thinking it's relative to your location & interests.

I was born in November, yet I hate the month. My allergies are in full swing, the weather is dreary & overcast, no more green vegetation, and it doesn't usually snow until December in MI.

Cheap lobsters, big fat fresh tomatoes & produce, the little bahstids are back in school, free parking at the beaches, nice weather - September is great!

September = best beach month. Also, school's back in session (college) and it's still warm enough that the honeys at the Football games are wearing what I like: Next to nothing.

October in DC is beautiful. Two words: Indian Summer.

I always hated April the most. The lifts stop turning, and the typical weather is 40 degrees and raining. Winter's completely over, and summer's a way's away. But november is a close second.

Sep/Oct/Nov = best climbing of the year. In fact, best weather of the year for just about everything except skiing. Finally the hideous heat is starting to ease.

Woke up to the sound of elk sparring in my yard this morning...going to a concert at the Gorge Ampitheatre tonight...so far September is treating me well.

September is a great time in Wyoming - we can enjoy some of the things that are over-run with tourists in June/July/August. It is also time for Sniagrab, college football, cool evenings, crisp mornings, good fly fishing. Granted, the anticipation meter increases with each cool morning, but atleast you know you are that much closer to snow.

September means the elk are bugling and archery season is here. The succulent grouse is is a blunt tip away from the dutchie. The doves are migrating through to their southern haunts, some doomed to dropped with a BB or two and end up in the smoker. Ahh yes, September is a fine month, a month to stock your freezer with tasty morsels to be broken out later in the lower lot December-April.

The Worst month? September is numero uno in my book. Warm Days/Cool Nights in Chicagoland. The NFL kicks in, Labor Day wkend rocks, best time to goto New Orleans to party (oh, wait ).

    November sucks!

September rocks if ya ask me.

I was born around labor day, so it is always a big party. Football is back in swing. You don't die of heat exhaustion when you are out mountain biking. Ski prep is in the works. If you live in a college town, all the students are back and the girls are showing off their summer tans. If in school, no tests yet. For those of us that work, not as many kids around during the day. I am sure the list goes on.

September is a great month. First pow turns of the new season usually happen here in Colorado. Here's a shot taken from mid-September at Berthoud Pass last year:

Yay to the new season!!! It officially begins today (well, for me at least )
