    Lange Lasts

I ski RX130Lv with zip fit. Had to punch toe several times but ankle is great

Looking at picking up a pair of slightly used XT130.

Every used pair in good condition is MV. Is toe box only difference between MV and LV or will ankle also feel more volumptuous?

The entire boot is roomier, don't get a 100mm Lange if you are happy with the 97mm . . .

I haven't been in an XT but I noticed the biggest difference between the RX130 and RX130 LV was in the toebox, but as others have said the whole boot is also roomier. Also depending on how old your RX130s are the fit seemed to change when they went to Dual Core. I've been in old packed out RS130 Wides which are perfect on me and found the new RX130 to be too roomy in the foot despite having the same last. I get a similar toebox fit in the RX130 LV, but the ankle is tight

As a regular Lange 100mm boot wearer, I have had 5 or 6 versions since the first Rx/RS last. I could last down to the 97mm for a tighter width. I've tried a few different models over the years, I have always felt the heels were very similar in width and hold, obviously the toe box and forefoot were tighter, BUT the biggest difference for me is the instep feels so much tighter. Instep is a persistent problem for my fit, so maybe I'm sensitive to it, but my opinion instep is biggest difference.
Its been years since I've worked managed a ski shop, but we would have one night in October every year where all the bootfitters would stay late in the shop, and we would all try on every boot on the wall, to feel the different shapes and fits.

It's a good idea, I tell our bootfitters to do this from their first day on the job. No better way to understand the differences in fit between lasts and brands.

We made a fun night of it, ordered pizza, and drank some beer. We also had a few non boot fitter staff help out, to pull sizes and re-box boots. It actually takes a lot longer than you would expect with a shop with a large boot selection

One thing to consider is that I found that the Lange 97 boots varied in feel as well. That is, the XT liner is a different feel compared to the RS, etc. 97mm is just one measurement. Try them on.

The liners vary quite a bit, the shell interiors less so. Try sticking a liner from an RS 130 in a RX 130 LV and an XT3 130 LV and see how they feel.

I ended up grabbing some cheap Fischer Ranger 130s that fit well with my zipfit - everyone says not to your in the zip fit, but it’s the only liner that fits my feet

The 100mm is way roomier than the “older 100mm” much more height in the toe box in the Rx

Did the internal size and shape of the 21/22 RS RX lasts change from previous years? I'm still rolling on 12/13 RS130's and I think it might be time for them to retire. Also, can anyone make any comparisons between the RX lv-mv and Tecnica Mach 1 lv-mv and 21/22 Cochise. Considering all of them

In the shop the RX 130LV and Mach-1 LV fit very similar, the Mach had a slightly lower instep and a noticeably softer flex (but not soft), but the RX felt very slightly lower volume overall.

These were just my impressions in the shop with feet in stock liners for about an hour.

Ended up buying RX and skiing it last season
