    I'm an idiot (Laundry related)

Well, apparently cell phones don't take well to being run through the laundry. On the plus side, at least I caught my mistake before running it through the drier.

When I pulled the phone out of the washer (after going through a complete cycle), it wouldn't turn on at all. When I plug it into the wall, the keypad lights up, but there's nothing on the screen, and the buttons don't seem functional at all. I've rinsed the phone off with filtered water and set it out to dry. Hopefully that will fix things. If not, the phone still covered by warranty (and as a red-blooded American male, I firmly believe that it is warranted against my own stupidity).

    Anyone else ever done this?

Splat dropped his in the toilet a while ago, though I think he just chalked it up as a total loss and flushed.
I've concluded that DJSapp was never DJSapp, and Not DJSapp is also not DJSapp, so that means he's telling the truth now and he was lying before.

dropped mine in a toilet once (thankfully BEFORE using it.) I dried it out completely and it turned back on. I still use it.

Plugging yours into the AC while still wet was un-headsy, since that probably shorted out the boards in there. I have no confidence in your phone's recovery.

And Ogre, that was the funniest thing you've ever written.

The other day at the beach, after a bottle of something or other, someone handed me my jacket with my cell phone in it, and I thought I was being attacked, so I threw it down to the ground with great force, and I heard a pretty sweet "whack" sound of my cell phone exploding. Now it is in a few pieces, and kinda works if it is plugged in though it can't quite make a call and then just powers down. And verizon won't warranty it...

my phone has taken a dunk a few times. Take it apart and let it dry out. You may get lucky.

Just FYI (not real helpful now), most electronic devices are not affected by water until they're powered up. Always let them dry before plugging in/turning on and, as long as there's no corrosion, they should work fine.
Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.

So he hid it in the one place he knew he could hide somethin'. His ass. Five long years, he kept this phone up his ass. Then when he died of dysentery, he gave me the phone. I hid with uncomfortable hunk of plastic and metal up my ass for two years. Then, after seven years, I was sent home to my family. And now, little man, I give the phone to you.

    ^ LOL

I've done it to my phone and to my flash drive. I found a few packets of those silica pellets that are in shoe boxes and some times bottles of vitamins and I emptied them into a bowl and chucked my phone in.

i took it out the next day and it was all dry. everything still works.

My phone has been through several spas with me and every time i just take the battery out and the covers off and let it dry out. Its still going strong, only thing that doesn't work is the alarm but who needs to wake up on time to get to work. The best was trying to get a girls number only to realize the phone was not next to the spa but in it with me, that didn't go so well.
If you open a second beer and don't miss a beat between sips, is that two beers or just one 24 ouncer? -Tye 1on
