Just took my first ride on a mulleted Revel Rail. Went from a 170 27.5 Zeb to a 170 29 Lyrik.
It was dope. May drop my stem another 2.5 mm. It carries noticeably more speed compared to full 27.5 version.
Balance points for grip are a little different and I have a few tweaks to do, but riding Purg tomorrow to get some laps in before the BME next week. Very psyched so far.

How many mags have mulleted a previously 29/29 bike? I don’t need to be faster, but I am genuinely curious how I’d like the change in handling characteristics.
I see that WRP makes an aftermarket linkage yoke for the 20/21 spec enduro to run in mullet mode and regain some of the stock geometry. It ain’t cheap, especially for what it is, but as far as I can tell it’s the only aftermarket part for made for this.
Seriously considering having a 27.5 wheel built up and trying the mullet out for next season.
And ETA, I’ve read the linkage from WRP is meant to be ridden first in low. Some people have clearance issues running in high with certain shocks, but believe the stock X2 is a safe go.
I run my meta am 29 as a mullet most of the time. Just put one offset bushing reversed, jacked the fork to 180 from 170 and put 165 cranks. Bb is only a couple mm lower and ha/sa is only .2 degrees slacker. Bike is just funner that way. Quicker in the corners , more playful and dont have to worry about catching the twins on the r tire on steeps and jumps. Full 29 atm for more pedalling type trails. I keep the coil rear shock with a reversed offset bushing for mullet and the air rear shock with one offset bushing slackening it a touch in full 9'r setting. Quick swap to just change the rear wheel and shock. Both rear wheels have a cassette and rotor

MY new Bullit is a mullet config and I really like the handling it seems really snappy but I really don't know how it would compare to a 29/29 and with the motor I don't have to worry about how it goes up hill

Bronson. Rode it for the first time this weekend. Just dialing in the suspension. My first coil shock and I don't know what the hell I'm doing, but it rides nice. Bit heavier than my 650b Bronson, but pedals fine on the up. Down is definitely what it prefers.![]()
Local guy built up a 29/26 Santa Cruz from a warranty frame, I forget which frame but that mullet is noticable enough to look a little wierd
I don't know if my liking the handling of an SC mullet is becuz of the geo or the smaller back wheel but I'm happy

The Asian mullet haircut, also known as the K-pop or K-mullet, gained popularity in recent years, especially within the Asian entertainment industry. It features shorter hair on the sides and front with longer layers at the back, creating a distinctive contrast.
This is some grade A bot traffic.
Funny to read this thread. Seems like mullets are here to stay? 650b dead with 26ers? 29 is king.
I barely can tell the difference between 29 and mullet, but I am also on two completely different bikes. I'd like to try something equal-ish to a Bronson in a full 29er set up.
The bike might be a fad that's two minutes to midnight, but the haircut is in full force here.
Can a bot be rascist?
I was in a rougher downtown PG bar where there were a lot of Mullets

The very short mullet haircut is a contemporary take on the classic mullet hairstyle, which gained popularity in the 1980s. Unlike its longer counterpart, the short mullet features shorter lengths overall, typically with the hair on the top and sides cut relatively short, while leaving a slightly longer length at the back of the head. This style often involves tapered or faded sides, with the back left longer to create the characteristic mullet shape.
