got a message on my phone from a bud in lenas right now and he was telling me that i made the right call in NOT going down there w/ him right now. totally nuking storms, zero visibility, roads/passes all closed so they're stuck there, and marte not expected to open for at least another week. he did say though, that if i could get down there in about 2 weeks (i can't), it should be off the hook. so all you fuckers going down in the next 2 weeks......sounds like you'll nail it just right.

Had a close friend just get back, same story. Got great skiing on Sun-wed but then it was over. I would check before travleing down. Volcano is done for the year, the quad that accesses cenidor is almost toast, engine is on its last legs.
Marte is completely buried. Even with the snowcat access to clear the liftline there is no where else to put the snow. THis is a real problem. I have an email into my buddy who is the dir of skiing. I will keep you posted.

so what does all this mean, do we get down there and call an audible in santiago? ski in chile? oh for the love of god too much snow is such a double edged sword. this is starting to feel like january in tahoe all over again. record snowfall and no way to ski.

Sadly, I'm only there for a week. I did a bad thing and got myself a job. Or was it a good thing...midweek skiing on the clock...

It's definitely been too long though. Those were some great days at the Bird. See ya soon!

I haven't been up in a week or so but last ride on Marte you were only about a foot off the ground and that was loading 2 out of 3 chairs. I remember talking then about taking a preventive stance and moving snow before it comes in again. But then I remembered we are in Argentina. Seriously, it will be interesting to see how long it takes to get Marte cleared.

This morning in San Rafael it is overcast with occasionally rain. We have had more rain the last 3 days then the rest of the winter. It is also windy this morning!

    Arty, you´re gonna get hosed...

Start to seriously think if Bariloche or Portillo would serve you better?
Got some mails from lenas, some local seriously wondered if Marte is gonna open in next two weeks, or this season..
Volcano out, Cenidor going (it´s stopping all the time..).

I lived without Marte last year, and I'll do it again this year...

There's around 2000-3000 feet of skiing missing from those pics.
