It integrated nicely in to my paraffin wax. The BB is much softer than pure paraffin, so mixing some in should lower the melting temp a little and soften the wax a tad at riding temps. It might capture more dust/dirt, but I'm hoping softening the paraffin slightly will help it adhere to the chain better and last longer. I'll report back, I queso'd 4 chains yesterday but haven't had a chance to ride one yet.

Cheese wax is a mix of paraffin and microcrystalline wax. The microcrystalline wax actually has a HIGHER melting point but is a softer more flexible wax.

If anything it should make your queso more durable and not wear off as fast. Microcrystalline wax is also used in ski wax.

This is the kind of thing that I love about TGR--I'm just a doofus throwing cheese wax in a crockpot with a hope and a dream and nothing to lose, and a subject matter expert appears!

Well maybe I'm on to something. I don't think I'll add anymore cheese wax to this batch of wax, because it already feels about as soft as I was hoping it would get. I put 20 miles on one chain yesterday and there is no discernible difference yet.

I wouldn’t call myself a wax expert but I do have a crock pot filled with a bunch of random shit that has seemed to work fine. It’s about a 15 year perpetual stew at this point.

Except I’m probably about to fully replace it with some Silca. I used most of it up painting the end grain of some boards I was trying to dry straight.
