I'll see your bug and raise you the family truckster Caprice wagon. The bumper/skid plate combo may be my favorite accessory ever.

    That’s it...it’s time to play G.O.T.O.S.

Being an ex-‘77 caprice owner myself, I believe that thing likely has a small-block V8 in it.

Lifted. Lighter than a truck. Lower center of gravity. Could be onto something, all aesthetics aside. Trick out the suspension. Modernize the fuel injection.

Were those things ever available in an AWD option?

Gawd, it’s just so ugly. The kind of ugly that only a mother could love. The kind of ugly that grows on you.

We used to joke about turning on the AC instead of braking.
I would love an old GM wagon as a valley car.

That was a local guy, and I've seen it IRL. The lift and front bumper are the only major mods, the rest is stock. It's a 5.7 V8 (probably makes low/mid 200s for hp, and maybe low 300 torque). Four speed auto, rear wheel drive. The lights weren't actually wired up. Otherwise it was pretty solid.

I'm reminded of a Moray eel, poking its head from its hidey-hole.

That would complete the look nicely. He may already be over gross capacity, it's massive in person.

I noted this solid example near Carson City. The other side held the plentiful condiments etc. Look at that winch!Click image for larger version.

I just need to know, where is all this underwater driving going on? Am I missing out by not having a snorkel. Would I be able to take underwater shortcuts and avoid traffic if I get one?

Had a bull bar on the front with a couple of rally lights also. No winch or condiment containers but a worthy specimen nonetheless. Click image for larger version.

Yes, but only if you live in a pineapple under the sea.
