That winch is a requirement because that rear end is going to bottom out on everything when it goes offroad.

The use case for 4 wheel drive (ok, this rig appears to have dual rear wheels) on a rig like that should be ice and snow, not jeep trails. A winch will be useful if you slide off the road and or need to get up a slippery incline.
