That 13 ft of elevation probably made all the difference. my house sits at 48 ft, and I know it will never flood. But, like NO, the rest of my town would, and I would be on an island.

Glad to hear everything turned out well for you and your loved ones Max. It's unfortunate that all of the damage in the surrounding area was sustained, but like all things it will be mended with time. I thought you were in for some serious trouble when I came across this picture, fortunately it wasn't an indicator of your situation.

Definitely good news. I saw the LA governor on Larry King tonight and she specifically mentioned Slidell, so very glad to hear that your house made it through o.k.
