Got a pair of BroModel aspen stiffs last spring, time to share a report. My intended use is for 95% backcountry in the Wasatch w/trips to the Tetons & Canada. Currently mounted freeheel. Got to ski them on spring & summer snow. Big fun on a big light ski. Round flex, stiff torsion, good rebound, silky smooth. I measure ~8.2lbs in 188cm.
Damp, fat, fast & good edge hold. The rubber layers make for a much more damp & stable ski w/a higher speed limit than other lightweight skis I've been on esp. in junk & mank - think Cadillac ride.
Compared to the 188 & 183 Voile Carbon Surfs; the BroModels are fatter, straighter, smoother, torsionally stiffer, better in less than powder conditions w/a higher speed limit.
Compared to my 190 Olin Outer Limits (re-labeled K2 AK Launchers) the BroModels are fatter, 1lb+ lighter, stiffer & smoother in junk & mank w/a higher speed limit.
Nice work Splat & Co, I think you nailed it. Thanks for a great pair of skis.
