    PNW Snowcat Skiing Enthusiasts

Just dropping some spam for the cat-ski operation that I work for in the winters... They decided to go "exclusive", and are now offering a package some of you might be interested in... BTW, the yurt is super-sick! The operations manager Tom is a great guy, fellow river rat, and amazingly knowledable backcountry guide.

    Hello Skiers and Snow boarders

Well another year is under our belt and all of us at Cascade Powder
Cats 2 LLC are gearing up for another year in the mountains. We have
been thinking hard about how we can make our product the best
backcountry experience available in the Cascade Mountains.

We would like to introduce you to Cascade Powder Cats 2 LLC “private
reserve”. What is the private reserve?? We are going to make our
operation a private access club for the back country enthusiasts,
with a maximum number of members set at 36 and maximum number of
people on the hill at 18 per day.

As a member, when you sign up, you will be able to pick a Saturday or
Sunday as your weekend exclusive day. So you are guaranteed a weekend
day. Plus you will pick an odd or even day for your midweek
guaranteed days. However, if space is available you can go every
day. Cascade Powder Cats 2 LLC has 2000 acres of private property
just NW of Stevens Pass. We have 3 mountaintops with lots of trees
and bowls to ski and ride. We have a 24’ diameter Yurt that is
located mid mountain at 4700’ with our top elevation at 6000’. The
yurt can sleep up to 12 and is used as our day lodge. All this adds
up to a private world-class backcountry experience just 60 miles from
    Seattle.

    So……. How does it work??

Membership is available for $2500/year and includes a mandatory 1
night of classroom lecture and 1 day mountain training by our staff
on our property. CPC 2 LLC will commit to full operations Thursday
through Monday, January 1st through March 31st 2006.

Reservations will be taken on Sundays between 9am and 3pm for the
upcoming week cycle (Thursday-Monday) Reservations are on a first
come first serve basis for each week with your weekend and weekday
exclusive days guaranteed. CPC 2 LLC will meet you at 8am (place to
be determined) and take you up into our mountains for an epic day and
return you at 5pm back to your car. As a member you will be taken
into the backcountry if there is just you or at our maximum of 18
people. We will run regardless of weather and snow conditions.

As with any mountain pass ours are non refundable and non transferable.

We are hosting an on mountain open house Sunday September 11, 2005 at
our mountain Yurt from 11am –5pm. This is a great opportunity to
come check out our mountain. If you are interested in coming to our

    No, actually, it's even better...

"pick a Saturday or Sunday as your weekend exclusive day. So you are guaranteed a weekend day. Plus you will pick an odd or even day for your midweek guaranteed days. However, if space is available you can go every
    day."

Because it's 2 groups of 18, you essentially have every other day guaranteed for you. But technically, you could ski every single day of the winter in the private cat-terrain, if there's room on the rigs.

steep - it's probably 5 hrs max. I can make it, T-town to Porkland, in 3 hrs. Add another 45 mins to Seattle, and then whatever to get further north...

If somebody was REAAAAAL smart-like, they'd try and score the job of maintaining the yurt during off-hours, which means sleeping up there all winter, and then pulling free cat time.... but I didn't tell you that. You'd need to borrow a company sled for visitors, or have your own for free fun time when the cat's aren't running, but that's really my job...

Really though, it's way cheaper than Yellowstone Club, and you get tons more terrain access. Everything from glades to big bowls, ranging from mellow to stuff people haven't even looked at yet in a normal year.

The meet spot is about an 25min from Stevens Pass, the trailhead is about 15 min past that (it's at the Iron Goat trailhead right before the road starts going UP at Stevens), and then it's probably about a 15 minute ride to the yurt depending on avy conditions. There are 2 bomb trams strung across the access road, and depending on how much snow there is, they may bomb, and they may or may not be able to drive the Suburban with MattTrax most of the way up.

I'll get some photos of parts of the area soon, and post them. 4 peaks is a lot of room...

CPC used to operate near Stampede Pass... When did they switch locations? (Probably a good move on their part.)

Not unless you bring your own sled...

Schmear: 2 winters ago was the last winter out of Stampede. They are now operating on 100% private property that they can control with bombs, and gate to keep the riff-raff like 'bilers out.

Oh yeah, the Cascadia Inn in Skykomish has dirt cheap winter rates. And it's got the only bar in town that serves liqour. http://www.historiccascadia.com/

It's less than 10 minutes away from the cat op.
