    A Rimming question

I'm looking for some rims for my wifes bike to go with the Hayes 9 brakes I'm going to put on it. She's a pretty timid rider and generally stops before she slams her rims into rocks. I'm looking at some Mavic X223 disc only wheels but I have no idea if they are worth a shit or not. Anyone here know the ins & outs of rims and which are strong and which are cheese?

Nice rims, I built a 223 on the ENO hub and still works great on my SS

    $45ish CAN

Mavic is my fav rim to build, true and work on.
good bet for her price vs weight vs durability

$45 for rims only I'm assuming. They want $89USD for front and rear wheels with Deore hubs.

mavic are nice but so are sun ds1 and ds2. I would buy the wheelset for $89 and have someone go over them, unless you want nicer hubs.

    $90 USD ~ $110 CAD

    so retail is
    45 rim
    45ish hub
    $20 spokes
    $45 build

$155 CAD but hand built does go a long way.

The 517's I laced up did 3 years of freeride and XC and where still true when I sold the bike ......

if you can't find people in nelson to build wheels PM me I can and get them to ya from lake louise .......

I was surprised by the absence of a NSFW warning in the title.

    No opinion on rims.

I've got the 223's on my Slayer and that bike has taken 8 foot drops to tranny, 15 foot stepdowns to coming-up-short, miles and miles of trailriding not to mention maneuvers and the rims are in great shape. I say get em.

Is that $155 for both rims? The $89usd is for both (+20 del).
