The Bowls are great and I guess I dislike big crowds too…

But I’d strongly recommend watching the World Cup finals.

Heard 2nd hand from recently retired WC skier that inspected the course a few weeks ago said it's going to be good.

Slowly, but it's coming. I think there is street stuff to be done next summer too. We'll have Trail Ck Bridge out for a month soon in prep for a total bridge replacement starting in February.

Will racers be able to traverse from the Flying Squirrel chair to the start of the Super G or will they have to get down from the top of Challenger?

All racers will ride Challenger. There’s an offload only ramp midway up for GS and slalom

Went to Ketchum for lunch at Lefty’s Saturday. It was nice, had one of the best BLTs I’ve ever had. Hit up the Goldmine and almost bought a pair of Fischer 220cm DH boards with Markers for $128.00. It was remarkable how much they weighed. I bet they were 25#s. I passed though, Bogus Basin wouldn’t support me going 75 mph down Paradise.

There's nuthin' that comes close to 3 or 4 BIG turns on Gretchen's first thing on untracked corduroy . That's why you have a pair of those big old skis. Mine are 223 Volkls. 6" on the stake this morning.

    Howdy SV crew!

I've lived in JH for 35 years and never once skied SV. I'd like to change that this season.

Been there a few times in the offseasons but not for a while now.

I like long skis, fast speeds and invisible patrollers. Early laps before the obstacles appear.
Interested in a local mag pointing me to the speed zones.

How do I swing a 1 or 2 day trip over without breaking open my piggy bank?

Any inexpensive lodging, ticket deals, etc?
What's my best plan, sleep in the car and hike?

    Thanks.

Stay down in Hailey. Not that bad of a drive to the hill from there. I take it no Ikon pass? Day passes get really expensive after Dec. 13th. So, if you have a hankering to hit up SV early season, then you can save a few hundred bucks.

If the coverage is good, the old triple, Mayday is a good place to be. So to are the runs skiers right off Christmas. Anything that gets groomed off Challenger is decent for getting your speed fix on.

Love that mountain and hope to be back in late January. Splurge if the budget allows and get a steak at the Pioneer Saloon. Or just go for a drink.

^^^ Bellevue is five miles down the road from Hailey (so 18 miles to Sun Valley) and lodging is way cheaper.

SV is the epicenter of wide and fast groomers. And there’s a bunch of them. Midweek is quiet so there aren’t a lot of obstacles to dodge. And those few obstacles are generally skilled.

maybe i'm weird but the most consistent fun I have lapping a chair at SV is frenchmans. About a 1000 feet or so. Wonderful glading from pretty wide open to more narrow. I've hit it on chalk and 18 inches and nuking. Absolute blast and always ski on.

Challenger lift and warm springs top to bottom is also a blast and leg burner.

Good mags there to show ya around too.

Think I am going to ski SV my first time this season. Have a friend living there and you just never know how long he will be there so might as well make it happen. hoping for some good snow

DJ- your JHMR season pass should entitle you to 50% off day tickets at any Mountain Collective resort including Sun Valley.

DJ, It pays to be early for big speed on the fresh groomers. No matter how fast you're going, always be ready to be passed by the fast guys - and gals!!

Riding to the lifts from Bellevue and Hailey is not like it used to be, even 3 years ago, so the value in staying in Hailey and Bellevue is not the same as it used to be.
