What can you buy today with a quarter?
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

I asked my wife that. She told me to get bent.

A few (2 or 3) pieces of penny candy that many grew up paying a penny or a few pennies.

If you can find a working pay phone, most still have a local call allowed for a quarter- but the time it would take to find a working pay phone is usually pretty excessive in an area you do not know really well.

Sorry about your mom. I hope it works out. Not an easy process for anyone involved. We wouldn't want it to be.

Change for a nickel? Only pennies you can find here now are likely collectibles.

Anyone with me that choice should be “View Last Read” instead of “View First Unread”?

Did anyone else see the plane that did the broncos flyover? Was it a B-17? B-24? I live a mile from the stadium and randomly walked out the front door and it was in a hard port turn a couple hundred yards off the deck . It was fucking amazing.

There are very few airworthy B24 these days, especially in light of the thousands made

True, but I'm 100 miles from Peterson and the AF academy. I hope it makes the news because it was ridiculously awesome. Didn't bother to run for my camera just soaked it in.

The googlez says c-130. They fly over Crested Butte constantly, usually pretty low...

Thanks yeah that was it. Didn't remember the tail wings of the B-24. I hope there's footage. It would have flown flat over the stadium, but it was in a hard bank by the time it got to me.

Back in my day there were still a few PB4Y2s set up as wildfire air tankers. IIRC, they’re pretty similar to B24s except for the tail configuration. I don’t know if they’re still used.

But neither one looks like a C130.

I absolutely love love love low passes. The last C-130 I saw was a low pass 100' off the deck right in front of me in the desert. This one, while from a much much smaller plane, I swore was going to give me a haircut:

It's at 1 hour and 3 seconds in this video.

Again, I love low passes. It really gives you an insight into how much power these awesome machines can make. And flight, that's really cool too. Yes, I am easily amazed.

Talk about low passes--I worked at a summer camp across the lake from Wurtsmith AFB and once in a while a B52 would fly over low enough to see the rivets. Loud.

Paging IT experts.... on a road trip, and tried to fire up my laptop this morning to transfer photos off my phone. It had trouble recognizing external drives and was generally taking forever to do anything. Restarted it since that is usually the solution to my computer problems, but then I get a screen asking me to select preferred language followed by this screen below. Same result with repeat attempts. How fucked am I? I backed up important stuff before the trip but all my photos from the trip are on the hard drive and not backed up anywhere else. The "disk repair" function under advanced options failed. Can't try much else til I get home.

Your pictures are most likely fine. Your operating system might be hosed. Someone can take out the hard drive, connect it to another computer and offload the pictures and any other files. Once you salvage any information, then you can go about trying to repair/reformat/reinstall the drive/OS.

In high school we used to hang out at this pond in the woods, we had a rope swing, we were there a lot. Turns out there had been a paint factory there from 1850 to 1920. Years later it became a Superfund site, it was contaminated with "substances including arsenates, lead chromates, barium sulfates, calcium chromates and iron ferrocyanide".

So I got that going for me.

Old military base = Superfund site.
