We keep a paper grocery bag in the pantry and when it’s 2/3rds full I take it all back over.

The one offs that live more than a few minutes drive away donated them to us.

I'd use a hairdryer to soften it, and spray it with 3M adhesive remover. Alternatively you could use Goo Gone (BUT NOT GOOF OFF).

Don't use acetone.

Acetone is indeed quite HC.
D-Limonene based products are commonly used for certain glues, while isopropyl alcohol might suffice for others.
