    Oil on the road, staying off the crown, and better visibility.

    My grandpa always told me it was also to lessen the likelihood of getting ran off the side if the road.

    Yeah, riding on the right is like an invitation to pass.

    Seems it would increase the chances of getting hit if its on a road with traffic going both directions. Riding in the middle of the lane would make more sense from that point.

    A lot of time it’s two bikes - one all the way to the left and one all the way to the right. The point about pavement profile makes sense.

    Yeah it's oily in the middle. So either the right or left wheel grooves.

    Lot of guys are afraid of the right groove because if you have a lapse of concentration on a left sweeper you may send it into the weeds. Bikes want to go straight. OTOH the downside of the left groove is guys lean over the double yellow on a blind left sweeper and get clipped by a car---they usually end up dead on that one.

    It takes real skill and trust to ride side by side Ponch and John style, so staggered is easier.

    Plus riding on the crown would be exhausting.

    That's awful Wooley.
    You have to be focused when riding. I've been out on my bike and turned around after 10 miles to go back home because I didn't feel like I could stay focused that particular day.

    Does this qualify as a question for all our resident dentists? I was at my dentist yesterday and she had what looked like meth sores on her face. No change in her personality, but she's always been pretty high energy. So, reassure me, there's something totally normal that could look like meth sores, right?

    I'm not a dentist but I think we would need to see a picture of her tits to make a true assessment.

    I don't think you really want that, she's probably 60 or so. Even if you do (NTTAWWT), I'm definitely not getting them for you.

    She's in Portland proper? Meth always seemed like a country drug to me.

    Homeowner question.

    I have a basement workshop which has 4, 4-foot fluorescent fixtures, each with 2 bulbs. Like this;

    Over my 10 years of owning this home, each fixture has worked on and off. I have usually replaced blubs and they've worked again.
    Roughly a month ago, none of the lights would turn on and I got sick of chasing fluorescent bulbs, so I ordered up 8 LED replacements from Amazon;

    Popped em in and each worked perfectly. Instant on. Had to install both (in any given fixture) or else neither would turn on.

    Well .... today I'm down there wrenching on my bike for around 30 mins and one by one they start turning off. First one, then a couple minutes later the next, then a minute and the third and finally 30 seconds and the fourth. Total darkness. Turn the switch off and on and nothing. I checked the breaker for that circuit and it was fine (tripped it and reset it anyway). There's a GFI in the area that I also tripped and reset. Finally, I left the circuit off for 15 mins and tried to turn it back on and sure enough they turn right back on.

    WTH is happening? Overheating? They're LED's and maybe aren't supposed to do that? Maybe they do anyway based on the design?

    Those say "ballast bypass installation required" - WTH is that all about? And did you do that?

    Yup, when I see them splitting lanes I always think "Organ Donors".
    Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

    I'll give you three guesses and the first two don't count. So I'm getting fooked by the ballast?

    Yeah, Portland proper, has been running her own practice for probably several decades, I've been going there for 5+ years and she always seemed to have her shit together. Doesn't fit the profile, right?

    Meth is great for productivity...until you unravel. Probably just the Herp, though.

    I mean... that's probably why your fluorescent bulbs were acting so goddam funky - it's almost ALWAYS the ballast in those old fixtures.

    Should have done yourself a huge favor and just gotten new, complete LED fixtures.

    Well ... at this point I suppose I can just bypass the ballasts as per the design. Then again, who reads manuals?

    Yep, cut out those ballasts and wire nut the wires straight to the sockets and call it good. The ballasts are definitely bad from what you described.

    Ooh, good thought! Now I'm trying to remember exactly where they were. I think there was one on the bridge of her nose that definitely could have been from a mask. Unfortunately, I can't for the life of me remember if there was one on her forehead or not...guess that's not really a question I can call and ask the receptionist.

    Not you, apparently.
