Why are the Yellow truck company logo and trucks orange?

I use and like the Suby adaptive cruise control on local roads where traffic is moving well enough that I don't have to brake.
Pro tip--if your cruise control is working but the adaptive part isn't, clean the bird shit off the windshield in front of the camera.

Yeah, it works great on the CR-V. It will slam on the brakes if necessary and come to a complete stop. I think it will even start the car going again with no driver input unless you've been stopped for a while. I use the cruise control pretty much any time I'm going over 40 mph.

It won't work when there's almost any snow, though. I guess the sensor must get blocked. OTOH you probably shouldn't really be using cruise control in the snow.

It's been giving me some problems when towing so I am looking at replacing it (it's a 2006 with 230k+ miles). Based on comments in the Trucks thread, it was suggested (and I agreed) that I just look at a newer Sequoia.

I remember it coming up in the trucks thread, then I lost track - didn't know if there was something catastrophic or just a very expensive repair estimate...

Neither. It was overheating and with a truck that age, you start to wonder. But the mechanic said it was just a bad radiator cap, or mostly a radiator cap, as it doesn't overheat anymore, and he didn't think there was any major damage. Except, it started overheating while pulling the camper in stop/go traffic going up I-70. Which isn't entirely terrible or unexpected (and the temp went down as soon as I blasted the heat, and was never an issue while moving). But it never did that before when towing. So I am just a little nervous and wondering if I should upgrade now.

Looking at one vehicle that looks nice and has a good price, but wanted to see the carfax. Dealer finally sent it to me and it is clean, BUT the car seems to have been for sale since late 2022. Which seems all kinds of weird and red flaggy.

In the old days, I would suggest changing out the thermostat given your description, but the last vehicle I did that to was a 78 scirroco. Haven’t had a coolant issue since on any of my vehicles. But then only the ‘03 Tacoma is over 100k km, and she won’t die just to spite me.

At 230k a new radiator,. water pump, tstat, hoses, and flush and fill would be par for the course and not too spendy if you do it yourself.

I found most of the places I looked at used trucks offered a free Carfax these days. Where did you find this newer Sequoia that didn't? Tell them to buy one and if they balk, not a good sign.

100,000 kilometers is barely broken in. Get back to me after 300,000 kilometers.

    .
Agreed. If the new radiator cap fixed the overheating, I'd just keep driving it. But I wouldn't be surprised if it needed any/all of those repairs, and it wouldn't cause me to get rid of it.

Well, it got a water pump at 180k, and I trust my mechanic to know what it needed (and I don't/won't do any wrenching myself). I have contemplated just keeping it, and may still, but I'm a little rattled and have lost some confidence in it, so considering upgrades.

The taco is just coming up on 300k. The other two are under 100k.

Think I might end up in CT for a year-18 months in a couple of years. What should I know about what I should do while I'm on the eastern seaboard, schools, climate, etc?

In zombie movies how come nobody rides bikes? Looting a high end bike packing rig would be way better than trying to steal a car.

30-50 miles a day, no problem, you can get off main roads, and there won’t be any spandex dorks snaking your Strava KOMs.

Hope she is having a good life. I've had all the early 2000 ski flicks on a work lately.
