That's gonna leave a mark.
That's gonna leave a mark.
That does look look ouchy.
My blister popped about a half hour after I posted about it here. I didn't even know it at first, I was getting ready for bed but I still had my socks on and I realized I was leaving bloody tracks all around the bathroom. There was a lot of juice in there. Doesn't seem infected so far but I'm keeping it bandaged and coated with Neosporin.
Smart but clumsy. Got it...
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.
That looks like something Seth Brundle would have as an appendage
Clumsy, anyways. But fairly stoic at least.
My best bud has a Tulane-smart, Cajun-dumb father in law who is stoic to a fault in moments of severe pain and clumsiness out of nothing if not stubbornness. They were building one of those big timber jungle gyms one year and he puts a 8' drill bit right through his forearm mid-assembly cause he was bracing the lumber he was drilling through with his arm directly behind the intended drill hole.
He finished the job before he let anyone take him to the ER.
I still call it The Jake.
Wait, "right through"?
I have a Le Creuset enameled cast iron sauce pot. The enamel on the inside is worn and no longer good for cooking. Like, putting water in the pot and rubbing the enamel turns the water milky. What do I do with it? It's substantial. And, cast iron. Is recoating a thing? Doesn't seem right to toss it.
Melt it. Remove a bit of carbon. Make steel samurai sword.
I don't know why I didn't think of that.
Maybe use it as a planter? https://ovenspot.com/re-enamel-cast-iron-cookware/
Le Creuset might warranty it, or at least offer a discount on a new one.
Gore. Ugh.
Framer for the CG who built my folks' house (working a parallel job) nailed himself to the subfloor with a 16-penny nail, right through his big toe. Pivoted around the thing on a one-footed arc-hop, swearin up a storm, claw hammer just out of reach.
I put a big nail through my thumb once with a double-fire while framing, fortunately no bone involved. Felt the point almost coming through.
Watch oot fer those nailguns, eh
When I bought my angle grinder I didn't know much about them other than they were going to help me with a chore. So I watch a few vids about them. One was a safety vid from Milwaukee or DeWalt, etc. It showed a kid cutting an I-beam with one, shard of disc to the forehead, knocked him 3 feet back, and right teh fuck out. Shard of disk still sticking out of his head. Sobering eh.
CGI, but still...
Angle grinders need to be operated like chainsaws. Always aware of what direction shit is gonna go flying. I cringe when someone saws directly in front of their face.
Grinders are way more dangerous. And often have a removed shroud. Keep the shroud. It’s there for your safety. Or remove it for more Darwin Award points.
Has anyone else noticed the ubiquity of "Caution: Student Driver" or "Please Be Patient: New Driver" bumper stickers lately? I'm not 100% sure it's not just a case of the Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon, but I don't think it is.
Also don't people realize bumper stickers are more or less permanent? I mean, they aren't going to be a "student driver" forever. I feel like it might just be an excuse to drive like an idiot.
edit: dammit, I should have known YouTube was the place to look! https://youtu.be/pM3LjFfwAPQ?si=35zVrsU6TXpLJ_y-
I was recently wondering what combo of stickers would make people stop tailgating me. I think I'll add "Please Be Patient: New Driver" to "I hate being Bipolar. It's Awesome!" "Gun Control means using both hands" and then some wildcard like "Free Tibet" Or "Visualize World Peace" and a punisher logo / black and white US flag.
Based on the driving skills I see on the highway these days, those long-term bumper stickers are still accurate.
Dunno if the graduated licensing system really works as well as I would like. Not withstanding the 35yrs I’ve been behind the wheel, I was taught to drive by a farm girl and German expat. I’ve done damage to myself but only once have ever touched another car (and it was a touch in stop-and-go traffic). I guess people are not just in the present when they are behind the wheel these days.
