Not sure what you’re talking about, through hood river is pretty rough (variable snow and rain all the time) and you never know when you’ll get stuck in traffic

And puma, delete or edit that post please

Its exactly this that made me leave T-Line early today. I was gonna lose it and stab someone w/ my ski pole... So, in the interests of public safety and the insistence of my wife and friends, we left. Between the maskless douchebags (overwhelmingly other dudes) and people riding up the tails of my skis and sniffing my butt-stank in the lift line, it all pushed me over the edge. Also, if you’re IN the lift line, PAY attention, your goddamned phone can wait till your ass is in the chair AND I don’t want to listen to your goddamned conversation on speakerphone either. Jeebus, take the wheel...

Its all good, gonna try to go up tomorrow morning when it should be quieter and I’ll be by myself. Won’t have to deal w/ the friends freaking out over skiing soft snow (they’re still learning). I’m SUPER happy you’re enjoying the Wildcats! Thanks for bringing me a smile on an otherwise not-great day.

Tomorrow should be nice. Had a good day Saturday. My knee reminded me why I stopped snowboarding, and started skiing 11 years ago. Guess it's time to rebuild my ON3P quiver for the umpteenth time. Hope to be back on skis by the beginning of Jan.

Almost left early today because lift lines
Star would have been great to start the day, but it kept stopping, which kept jacking the lines
But the boy encouraged me to stick it out...we even lapped Stadium to get some leg work while we waited for everyone to go to lunch, then it opened up.

    Good day mostly

Damn AC, nice pics! Glad to see you back out there with the kid.

I’m making an appearance at everybody’s favorite central OR resort tomorrow. Bright green jacket and fattish skis, not trying to look like a long-time bachelor local with 78mm underfoot and 14m turning radius just quite yet. TBS/Jonesy/et al., holler if you want to make some turns, or not.

    That sucks.

Hoodoo Chuck sounds like he doesn’t personally agree with the necessity of all the public health safety measures, but his staff sure did a damn awesome job politely reminding people who had pulled down buffs/masks to pull them up over their faces once back in line. They yelled that out in general every few minutes, and if talking to someone specifically they were extremely polite, in soft voice and gentle body language “hey can you do me a favor, just pull that up for me, we gotta stay in business, thanks.”

It’s been a while since I’ve seen that many cars on 126 headed up the hill before 9 though, cars ended up parking halfway out to 20 on the access road!

Jonesy TBS I was skiing with a buddy from Albany and just getting my legs back under me but will ping you next time. Glad I didn’t pull my bindings off my Enforcers, I needed the double layer titanium to bash crust ... and really rock skis aren’t much needed at the Doo anyways, thin cover means more manzanita and log remnants than hidden sharp ptex tearing volcanic shards.

Woah, a whole lot going on today - very cool

MHSP - I feel ya man. Spacial awareness is important in activities involving motion, and the importance of estimating space in a static environment is a necessary first step. Sadly, many can’t be bothered. I’m working on stories to tell people who get to close to make them reconsider their relative position in space-time. Hope Monday is better

AC - the boy abides. Good thing he ignored you.

Schralph - no worries, It was a half hour of fumbling around in the fog then 90 min of training laps on the nastar course for me. Jonesy was off cutting the line doing instructor training shit.

Fortrees - looking forward to skiing ya. PM me your digits and we will connect. I get to upper sunrise lot ~0745 then hang out in my dirty dirt-brown outback that has a dented rear driver side bumper. Jonesy shows up about the same time. My ensemble will depend on game time conditions.

Puma will be showing up as will Gepmeow. One or both on new rides.

I am bringing holiday baked goods. Testing indicates they are double strength, the unfortunate result of over-estimating the amount of coconut oil in the house.

Tap, sing out if you can join us. Same for Toadman.

My space story is pretty easy. “My wife works in a hospital, thanks.”

After my buddy from Albany left I didn’t get any hassle taking chairs solo on Ed or Green despite lines (I didn’t run into other single skiers, which I would have been fine with).

The only complaint I have is that the coral maze for Green was set up with a 4->1 lane merge and no staff managing it. Everyone was totally cool and polite but you just couldn’t keep track of whether the rotation was equitable or not.

Gross. White River to Silent Rock was stop-and-go last night. Not fun. I considered whipping a u-turn for the Hood River route, but stayed the course.

Start thy quiver with a Woodsman 108. I had my first day on them and they are the Mt Hood ski. I effing love them. It's the other ski I wanted Scott to build for years.

I was up there after snagging a nooner reservation. Maybe I saw you? I was showing a buddy around and getting him up to speed on skis after he's been away for 20 years. I was in a red Trew jacket w/brown pants, looking like it was my first day of the season.

No action stoke, just a peak at one of our favorite vocalnoes:

It was glorious to get back out on skis and slide on some snow. Turns out, skiing is still fun, even if things were bumped out and firm. Still worth it. I hope to ski with some of you this season.

And shoutout to thefortrees for trying to get my buddy outfitted with some skis. While it didn't work, I appreciate his willingness to hook up another PNWet mag. Good peeps, that one.

    Think snow!

Speaking of PNWet ... I ended up ordering some fan goggles from Haber Vision last night. I had mild fog problems with my 3 layer cloth mask in the lift queue - I foresee wet snowy days to be a mess of fog.

Smith no longer sells Turbo Fan goggles except for tactical/air soft use.

Interested to know how they do. One of my kids wears glasses and she was double fogged up all day on Friday.

Edit: well... they were on sale so I just grabbed a pair.

Made a few laps with tbs, puma and some of the local riff raff. Lines got tedious and felt like single digits even though it wasn't. Coverage was descent. We all drug up around 11.

‘Twas a good day despite the crowds. Too bad we couldn’t unite the crews for one run.

And yes it was brisk. The skin of my left asscheek froze to the chair during one ride up CCX

Good to see you all. My zoom meeting felt just a bit better this afternoon after laps with you all this morning. I could get used to this...

I'm going to take another run at it Wednesday if there're any takers. I'll try and stay up. You need to spend more time in Bend Puma.

I hear you. It's a long haul from Seattle. I miss the "short" drive from PDX and having a pass here! Will shoot you a note if Wednesday clears, but not favorable at this point due to work. Friday, and the rest of the year, off!!!

it was better today, got up there right at 9am and skied until my 11:00am Zoom call. Snow was soft, there were still some fresh stashes to be found (they were DEEP too, felt great under my Cease&Desists). Was sorta surprised by how many people were there for a Monday, but then reminded myself that a) COVID has all sorts of people off or free to ski on Mondays and b) winter break for schools and colleges is starting... I think I may switch my mid-week skiing to after 12pm when the usual crowds bail at/after lunch, but that will really depend on snow conditions I suppose.

If anyone’s at Timberline and sees someone in a topographical print jacket, riding a pair of ON3P’s, yell “Hi!” or say “hi” in the lift line if I’m not spacing out listening to my headphones (those OD Chips are the bomb).
