Some pretty places up in those valleys.
Spent a long weekend up in Maggie Valley last winter during a storm cycle which was totally enjoyable.
It's been forever, but I recall Jay being a great spot. A haul to get to, but great.

way to go deep with the local insight benny
yeah I hate this place too it's the biggest ski town mountain town junk show in north america
I shake my head in disbelief when it comes to stupidity I see daily
on the other hand benny this is the greatest place to vacation and live
just about every day when I wave to someone in passing I know when I see some gaper taking a dumb photo and I take a second to look at what they are taking a picture of
when I think about the gondola a fifteen minute walk from my house the endless trails
I realize how fucking lucky I have been
town has been off the hook with visitors and this winter will be no different
book now or like when it comes to dating girls up here you'll loose your place in line
OP, are your only qualifications that the place be in Breck and have a hot tub? Maybe help us narrow it down for you. I mean if there's no spending limit, then the world is your oyster.
Most condos have shared hot tubs, tough to find something with private HT till you get into houses or duplexes.
Yeah I hear ya, and it appears that if I'm willing to look farther out Rt 9 there might be some options. Ideally I'd like to keep it under $450/night but it's just one and a half humans so extra space might be wasted if we went bigger to get the private HT.
I'd be down for tiny house/cabin if it gets us there.

Breck, Keystone and Vail are extremely important resorts for keeping the crowds down at other places. They are very large, have lots of runs and lifts and the Texans love them.
God bless those three mountains.

I recommend skiing with your kids.
Once you get off the base, get high (af) on the hill, and stay up there. Bring toe/hand warmers, extra layers, tp, beers, sandwiches, vape, extra goggles maybe, and patience. Places to get warm on the hill will be few and far, but the skiing will be there. The money involved will not allow a shutdown.![]()
the drugs made me realize it's not about the drugs
The Tiger Run RV park just north of Breck is actually pretty nice. Lots of "Trailers" (what people might now call tiny homes) that are pretty nice and affordable. Not sure on private HT availability.
It is also closer to getting to other local resorts like Keystone, which for as much shit as it gets, isn't that bad of a mountain if you are from out of town.
Breck is a shitshow, but if you embrace it, it is a pretty fun shitshow.
Thanks Wkd-rdr, this is kinda the plan. Eat breakfast, get out, get up and away from everyone, watch my kid get further hooked on this skiing thing, go home, eat chili, (hopefully soak in a tub with some beers), repeat.
Have you been hanging out in the ECRC or Rat Flu thread this morning?

That does it Benny.

I'm hoping that that the neighborhood in Baltimore that goes whole hog with decorations does it this year. Xmas Eve and night is surprisingly uncrowded.
I know I'm playing catchup here, but is there some new 2020 thing regarding putting up Christmas decorations?
I'll take a decorated private hot tub please.
