Just unpulled the trigger on going to the shitshow tomorrow.
May as well make written comments, eh?
Not that I'm much afeared of gettin' lynched...

Ikon and Covid joined forces last winter to make it the most insane on record.
Especially the price of real estate and rentals in god's country being unaffordable for a ski bum.
No going back. These folks are able to buy property and work from it. Shit x 2.
The good old days are gone in one year, really.

In a perfect LCC world I would like to see:
    A gondola.
    Snow sheds.
    Limited vehicle parking up canyon.
    Limited ticket sales.

The last two are dreaming, but aren't dreams worth striving for?
Those two are gonna be front and center in my written comment in the process.
Oh yeah, and the safety a gondola affords...

DTM yer buying if I can figure this pms thing out.

    Late to the party...

Gondola aint going to work as is the popular consensus

I keep thinking One Wasatch (is that the same as Ski Link) is the solution:

Interconnected high speed quads/6 pack/gondolas from Snowbird to Alta to Catherines Pass, to PC Ridgeline (something like that). Create designated "Piste" areas for inbounds skiers/people transiting from base area to base area. Create manned controlled gates manned by folks enforcing Beacon , Shovel, Probe Mandates for those wanting to access the backcountry.

Basically create the European Interconnected situation in the Wasatch. The best backcountry skiing in the world is in the Alps, but no one complains that most zones can be lift accessed

Only other solution is to build a ski resort in the Oquirrhs and maybe down by Mt Nebo/Southern Wasatch/ Uintas (by PC Cat skiing )?

Can we make the gondola access only for resort employees/patrol/snow safety like the T-Bar at Bridger - which is patrol only? And let Olympic ticket holders on too since that's just a couple weeks one year I think?

I’m fine with the gondola. I’m still going to drive up in my vehicle and park in my paid for spot as long as I can. I’m fine with the majority of the tourists above me off the road. I think it was at least 15 years ago I was claiming there will be a time you won’t be able to drive up those canyons, ala Zion NP.

And c’mon Jimmy, the good old days have been gone for a long time. 15 years ago I could drive up to Solitude at 11, park down at the corner of the lot by Eagle and ski pow the rest of the day. That shit hasn’t happened for a long time. Gone from Solitude to Multitude.

Going to be an EXPENSIVE night for the DTM'r

Hand out $500 tickets from guys who work for 10% commission and you'll have a conga line of volunteers to do it.

[QUOTE=Dantheman;6353920]You do, lots of tourists who stay in PC don't/won't. But a gondola ride direct from PC to BCC/LCC? Shit tons will take that ride.

Vail has no interest in encouraging thousands of skiers who stay in Park City to travel to BCC/LCC across their property when there are very few LCC/BCC skiers coming back their direction.

    ^Huh?

People will be still be staying in PC for the amenities, I’d even think people who wouldn’t normally stay there would if there was easy access to BCC/LCC.

What TFW says, simple and to the point. Many of us are lucky to have lived our slice of the "ski bum" dream in LCC. Sadly it's just plain over, accelerated exponentially by Covid's consequences. Bring on the future, we'll make the best of it.

We're talking about the State of Utah constructing a lift(s) from PC to BCC, not Vail.

If you're not an Alta/Bird passholder the gondola ride is going to cost at least as much as the bus, probably more.

TFW, you convinced me not to show tonight. I also simply wrote my comments in. Different from yours, but I wrote them in.

The good old days are long gone, and I fear in 10 years time we'll be looking back at right now and thinking how good it still was on a relative basis.

Kinda forgot that 2 yrs ago I was at county council, UDOT meetings, and here promoting Schindlerpiste's desire to have a gondola from Summit county to BCC and LCC.
My wish list for the LCC is a gondola for a "fire escape".
    Don't care from where.
Nobody is interested in Summit county for the base at this time.
Too bad because that's where the amenities are.
And where there won't be any snow in ? years.
And where the Olympic teams and many Cottonwood Canyon visitors stay, no?
We've always had world class skiing, an international airport, and 3rd world delivery.
About to change, but too bad the change will be up Little...

Wanted to set the record straight that I'm not really for a gondola in the LCC.
    Huh?
Wish we could get alternative ingress / egress another way...

It's on now. Does Snowbird pay Dave? Because that pitch was weak sauce.

Did someone really say they were concerned about being shot in a gondola?

Take that TFW. Your safety claims are debunked . Drunk and angry mobsters shooting up the joint more than offsets any avalanche safety.
