Surprised to see some of the terrain people have been skiing in these conditions.

really, and like Muted, I'm especially blown away by folks skiing places like West Porter. That whole thing is a giant slide path. I might not even get to ski West Porter this year.
Heard that West Bowl got hit pretty hard, and for a minute I had FOMO, but honestly, Beartrap and Mill D have been skiing so well that I can't complain.
I'm bad at taking pictures but the last 3 days have been pretty excellent. Stoked that mid-big finally has awesome coverage, there are plenty of little pockets back in those drainages that are super safe and that don't see much traffic because they're not named on the map.

Disagree, maybe strongly.
Having a photographic record of the range this year, at least mentally, is important.
If something slid deep x 100%, why couldn't one play there next storm?
Problem may be how to get there and get away if travel is under slopes that haven't slid.
Especially after a large water/wind event when triggering large slopes above is possible from the flats in years like this.
And it sounds like one is brewing.
Avalanches that run uphill after crossing bottoms occur around here. Look at runout trimlines.
That W Porter sure was a runner...

heh, because if it went deep then there's nothing left to ski!
or if it went to facets, then what, just wait for those to get loaded again?
I sure hope you're right, I love that zone and I'm sad I haven't been able to ski it this year.

In big slides, bed surfaces kinda get hot and can become a decent base, and the slope gets smoothed out at the same time.
Yeah, high on those slopes where less friction occurs may not have the best base, oh well.
Don't have to ski it from the top, eh?
Sometimes it only takes a foot of high density for great skiing after big events.

Huh, well, I'll consider that the "cool shit I learned from tfw" today. thanks man, your knowledge and wisdom is always appreciated
still don't think i'm gonna sign up to be test slope jerry in WP this year, but i'll hold out hope that things get better here. honestly, i just don't know enough to make a call like that safely, and it's easier (and better) for me to err on the side of safety. i can live with a little fomo, but i can't live with the potential consequences of a majorly bad judgment call.
in the mean time, i'll keep at my mid-big routine. it's working. no complaints here.
I traded with a buddy who has one that is completely flat recently. It rode like shit compared to mine that mar123 made, which I’m pretty sure is that black one above.
Sick powsurfs ya'll! Mine is totally flat, sounds like I need an upgrade.
