Yeah that shit set in as I was leaving the valley, pretty wild. There was crazy fog/clouds to the ground down towards Green River/Moab.

I thought this study was done pretty well and I haven't seen it posted here.

Note the name used in the study of the person infecting the other skiers at Alta. Haha.

Did I miss the answer already to why the fuck there’s no tire checking on mid day storms? 1:30, nuking, 4 cars off the road. 3 up, 1 down.

Haven't seen a tire check yet this year. Worst day of the year so far, that hella greasy day a week or so ago? Nothin'. Saw a bunch of FWD cars up there then too.

You guys are telling me the UDOT-approved stickers on pre-inspected cars or whatever harebrained scheme the kooks who manage the road came up with are NOT WORKING?

I'm relocating to SLC for work soon and I'm trying to figure out the best LCC transit options, as I know its a bit of shit show.

I have a 2wd compact truck and even if I get 3pmsf tires (I will) and put sandbags over the axels, I don't want to take it up on storm days. As much for my sanity as everyone behind me.
    So what are my options?
Ideally I'll only ski alta/bird on weekdays and use the weekends for touring. Is the UTA bus a shitshow early in the AM on weekdays? Is it doable when its snowing or will I be stuck on that bus for 2 hours bc of traffic? I wake up pretty early and work afternoon/evenings so I'm mostly wondering about the ~7am bus use.

I'm ready to get 4 wildcat runs in by 11:30am with a coreshot thrown in again and be totally stoked about it.

Do the Ikon blackout days reduce congestion in LCC ever? I vaguely remember it not being too bad last year but I have a crappy memory.

Bus can be a shitshow on storm/closure days since you are dealing with the same traffic as everyone else. Honestly, if you are planning to be in SLC for a while and want to ski a lot, get a different car.

Hot air balloon is the best way to beat the traffic these days. Much safer than flying a helicopter. Just make sure you live somewhere you can catch the NW flow to the resorts. My dumbass buddy tried to fly up to the resorts in his balloon last year from sandy and ended up at sundance. what an idiot!

Did he get to ski with Redford though?

That wind is fierce. Surprised they were still running Peruvian. I could only handle 3 laps. Very frost bitey.

    Super interesting. Thanks.
Figured on the talking / yelling thing being an escalation of transmission and there you have it!

Full on winter up here for a while this afternoon, eh?

Don't drink any coffee if you are taking the bus up on a powder day. FWIW a FWD (not 4X4) with snow tires provides more traction than a 4WD with all season tires which are approved. Also the snow tires are a big help in braking.

Stickers were just dumb. They did the inspection / issued them just one weekend so in the scheme of things low % have them. Of course if they never check what's the point.

bless me ullr for I have sinned, it has been 8 months since I’ve been in pofo. decided to see what effect fatherhood and the dadly pastime of bicycle riding have done to my fitness, and to investigate how the luge is shaping up

better than expected all around. ran into the mayor of these parts and chatted a bit, an auspicious start to an optimistic season. under 2 hours to the pass isn’t bad for my aging ass, and though the snowpack is sketchy it skied just fine thanks.

last season in porter ended on a glorious powder day so starting this one off with pow turns was sublime. I’m sure whatever kevin skied today is way radder though

I doubt I’ll hit my 100+ with the kiddo but I’ll be around. holler if you see me out there. and keep them kick turns pointy boys and girls!
